there is NO reason to bump your thread 24 minutes after creating it. maybe if after a day someone hasn't replied then you can bump. but not 24 minutes. thats ridiculous.

That does sound a little weird and is NOT normal operation.

Maybe knock retard at high rpm??

What octance fuel are you running?

Also, how old are your plugs? Maybe some kind of high rpm missfire?

I know my SH will sink the tach RIGHT into the red.............the rev limiter doesn't cut until 8050rpm indicated (it's actually AT 7700 though......the tach's on these cars aren't accurate).

Back on topic, how many miles are on your motor? i know it sounds weird, but do you have any oil leaks? I had this exact same prob with my civic, and on the next oil change i pug "4 cyl. engine restore" and it didnt do it any more, im not sayin this is your prob, just something to look into.. Im still learning myself

Okay...to make this all simple...when you floored your car, was it running at operating temp, or had you just started the car...? If it was cold, you just broke rule #1 for owning/operating a car. I made the same mistake when i first got my lude. Started it, pulled out of the parking lot and gunned it without letting it warm up for a few minutes, there was no VTEC and it hit about 7 grand and felt like i had just ran into something and hopped the rear tires off the ground. And thats scarey. Its kinda funny, because I start to brace myself for the shift when its approaching redline, and when it died at 7, i almost went through the windshield.

PS. Did the same thing the first time I took my brother for a ride. Rather embarassing, i must say...needless to say, he wasnt impressed. I made it up to him though.

.02...Word.

Sweet. go easy on it when its cold...you'll mess that F-er up if you dont. When its cold, try and stay under 4 grand, till it warms up.

Yeah I noticed too the beast has to warm up before you want to hit V-Tec I was pulling out of work the other day and you can't see over the hill. So once out in the road a big semi was right in my mirror and I could hear his Jake brake, so I mashed down hard on the pedal and I did not feel the V TEC at around 5200 rpm and I thought something was wrong, so I too felt the power lag but not quite at 7000. Never had it up that high yet. I've got a 97 with about 144,000 on it. I do oil changes every 3000 even on my 3rd Gen.

Yea, letting a car warm up has never rang more true than with these cars. Well, its terrible to run ANY car hard when cold. It seems to be basically a "moron proof" feature. Can you imagine if VTEC DID work when the car was cold...? Im not sure myself, but i assume its something similiar to firing a 105 mm Howitzer right into the engine bay.

My friends always wonder why their cars break down...maybe its cuz they start them, and then drive like morons. but I get made fun of because im a car enthusiast...yea, go have fun with your broken saturns. Jackasses. Okay...*breath* Im good now.
