impatient for a prelude

I have been in the market for my third prelude for awhile now. I originally wanted to get one like my first one, 2001 base, black, 5 speed, 100% stock with no more then around 180k. But there hasn't been one within 800 miles that fit my criteria ever since I started looking. But a few SHs have popped up. I am a guy that prefers a fun car rather then a fast car, but I also am a sucker for stance, which is why I am looking for a base because I don't want a useless ATTS in my bay. But if it comes to be buying a SH, i have a few questions before hand.
are they that much harder to work on then the base, and does the ATTS make the extra handling at moderate speeds (40-60 mph) make up for the loss of horse power? Or should I keep with my original plan and buy a base and mod the suspension to get superior handling? My ultimate goal is to go in a curvy line as fast as possible

Re: impatient for a prelude

You want fast in curves? You want the SH. The type S everyone clamors for has the ATTS.

The SH was the reason the 5g was car & drivers top sports car under $30k all 5 years it was made.
It has the same power. The ATTS weighs 40#. It's a box of clutches in a way. There are sensors on the wheels to tell the clutch box what's what. It works based on lateral g-forces. Unlike the cruise control I don't think there's a minimum operating speed. It's a device that senses the car is turning and reduces power to the outer inner wheel of said turn. Think turning in a wheel chair.

Others can weigh in on the why's and why not's of modifying the SH drivetrain. Or you can find info here. But if you want a curvy fun car, the SH won't disappoint.

And coilovers are available as well as exhaust systems.

Re: impatient for a prelude

But can't an SH only be dropped two inches or so before it messes with the atts?

Never heard of anyone having any issues with dropping it because of the atts.

I was in the same boat as you 2 years ago except I was more flexible on color and less on the miles, I wanted something fully stock w/ no accidents around 100k.

Get what you want, be patient. I thought that no one sold preludes in my area, and i waited like 2-3 months and just bought the best deal i could get (so i thought). Now, a couple months later, i see deals that're like 20x better than what i got. it'll come, just wait.
