Value of Perfect, stock 99 Prelude SH with 11,544 miles?

Hello,

This is my first post here and hoping you guys could please give me some insight.

An elderly friend of the family passed and I recently acquired a 1999 Prelude Type SH that is in FLAWLESS, showroom condition in every way with only 11,500 Miles on it, (no that is not a typo), this car could pass for absolutely brand new.

It is pearl white, Type SH, completely stock, cloth interior, garage kept under a cover its whole life. I have no interest in keeping it but I need help establishing a fair value to put it up for sale for.

What would you gentleman think is a fair price for a car like this?

Thank you and happy new year to all!

Tom

Re: Value of Perfect, stock 99 Prelude SH with 11,544 miles?

10 or 11 grand. You can ask higher then that but you have to someone who is actually willing to pay that for a 15 year old car. I don't think it's unreasonable though 10 or 11K. GOod luck.

Re: Value of Perfect, stock 99 Prelude SH with 11,544 miles?

Honestly, your best estimate will come from going to the Kelley Blue Book or the NADA Black Book and looking at their calculations. As much as we love them, Preludes aren't collector cars...a pristine used Prelude is just a used car in excellent condition. In this case, KBB says about $7200. You might stretch that to $8k...$10k is wishful thinking or someone who really, really wants that particular car and is willing to pay the premium.

If you're willing to go to the effort, you might try getting it into a classic car auction...many are perfectly willing to consign newer, unusual cars in excellent condition. Strange things happen at auctions once the bidding starts.... Put a reserve of $7k on it to make sure you don't lose anything, and you might actually get more. Search the net for reputable auction houses -- I know a few operate out of Palm Springs, which isn't that far.

Nice find. I'd love to see pictures of it. Post them up if you have any.

Re: Value of Perfect, stock 99 Prelude SH with 11,544 miles?

the 3000 mile one went for around 15k, my boys 55k went for 9k. so id say 10,000+ all depending on how mint it is overall. but hey tom, drive it around for a little while I'm sure you will LOVE it.

Depends where you put it. Of course records to document ownership and maintenance are key. Good luck - my 1997 is about to turn 280,000 (1 owner).

Its a beautiful little car but I just leased a new car prior to this so I cant justify keeping it. The car is MINT, I mean literately show room condition. It was his weekend car, garage kept under a cover. He used to put it up on jack stands and wipe down the UNDERSIDE of the car. I am thinking ebay might be the best bet for this car. Do you have any links to the 3000 mile car that sold? Where was it sold? That is the closest to a comparable being sold that i have heard about.

Thank you for all the input guys, keep it coming! I will post pics in the next day or so!

Re: Value of Perfect, stock 99 Prelude SH with 11,544 miles?

My coworker sells 60's hot rods he restores on ebay. Nolan Enterprises.
Don't know the details, but do know he's told me of several he sold and folks drove cross country to pick them up.

Edit:
With a flatbed usually. Sometimes covered trailers.
All I'm saying is don't rule out ebay.

Mona is cherry too, she's stock unmolested, 31,xxx no less than $13k privately.

A car of that condition should get a page in Dupont registry, and CL is known for BS-ers so stick to your guns and ask what you want and negotiate down

Worst idea evah

They'll be like

" this is the fair market value (wholesale) of the car without a Repair Order, detail and take out imperfections" and show a 4 figure number.

And flip it for $18,000. Dealerships are skunks.

it's beautiful.

I see hella horns, k&n air filter, and an optima battery. All worthy upgrades.
other than that it's the cleanest stock prelude I've ever seen.

keep it, garage it, love it.
