Transponder/flip key

I'll be heading home soon from Afghanistan. I can't wait! Never even drove the prelude the wife had bought me. Been trying learn as much as I can about the car.

How easy is it to remove the transponder from the key? I dont like having a lot of things in my pocket. I wanted to do a flip key so I wouldn't have to carry my keys and a fob. I found a flip key shell for the prelude, so before I bought it, hopefully you guys can give me some insight

Re: Transponder/flip key

First off, thanks for your service!!!

Now to the key.
Do you mean the transponder that speaks to the ignition switch imobilizer?
As in you want to have the transponder from your key in the fob?

Pretty much got flamed for driving like a jackass and was told to slow down. And I'll be damned, slowing down fixed it.

Yes, I'm trying figure out how easy it is to remove the transponder from the key to the fob. Or since I've never done something like that, I shouldn't give it a try?

Re: Transponder/flip key

A locksmith could likely shed some light on it.

I'm reluctant to get specific since these threads could be used by those less than honorable.

Good idea though.
