Icon5 Exhaust Leak?

Hey everyone, I bought my lude about 2 months ago and I never really noticed how loud the exhaust is today when my mom was talking to me and I could barely hear her, inside the car while in 5th gear and accelerating on the highway. The previous owner said it's a custom welded flowmaster with a cat delete and there's no resonator so it would be a little loud. But I didn't know he meant on the inside? Any ideas? Maybe there's a leak somewhere?

Re: Exhaust Leak?

lmao a cat-less, resonator-less exhaust system. That means IF there's a muffler, that the muffler is the only sound-suppressing component in the entire system.

If there's no muffler, than there's zero sound-suppression.

Re: Exhaust Leak?

It's gonna b kinda loud, I'm running the almost same setup. It's a high flow cat with resonator delete and it's pretty loud but it sounds awesome on the downshifts. Exhaust leaks sound way different then just having a aftermarket exhaust system, or having a hole somewhere sounds soo embarrassing lol, been there done that

Re: Exhaust Leak?

even a little pinhead size hole in the exhaust will make your expensive exhaust sound kinda fartish

loud exhaust - itīs one thing, and fartish exhaust - other completely different one

Sorry for the late reply! But yes sometimes I smell exhaust in the car only on a cold start just after starting it and maybe turning on the heat. It goes away after that... Maybe I get USD to it:p but I do think there's a hole somewhere though. My muffler doesn't sound like there's anything wrong with it. Ishook it around a bit and nothing rattled

Re: Exhaust Leak?

Try this, stick a rag over the outlet of your exhaust. It should cause the car to die down due to nowhere for exhaust gases to escape.
If your does not die down to running rough there's a good chance you have a leak.
Old exhaust inspection trick.

Sometimes the aftermarket exhaust tip does not go as far beyond the bumper as the oem stuff did. Hence the smell in the car.

I have an rc car that you turn the engine off when doing that. I should've thought of that. Thanks so much man I appreciate it! I'll try it out tomorrow!
