Icon5 Strut tower brace won't fit on drives side! help me! :(

Hey I'm new to the site... and to the ludes. But obviously one of the first things I bought for my 00 prelude base auto was an strut tower brace but it doesn't seem to fit down on the drivers side. The brake fluid lines are in the way on both mine and my brothers 98 prelude. The passenger side had connectors in the way that I just bent downwards BUT these steel brake lines on the drive's side are in the way and cannot be moved(so it looks) even if I unclip them from the plastic folder seen in the pics.

I even bought a different one that looked like it should've fit but both off them hit the brake fluid lines on the drives side mount and i can't get it on the bolts.

I know for sure they are for this model (BB6). Is there something I should know when when having to buying/installing a strut tower bar/brace. They sure as hell dont come with instructions of a pic on what it looks like in the engine bay.

Re: Strut tower brace won't fit on drives side! help me! :(

If it doesn't fit its:

a) Not the right bar for the chassis.

b) A poorly engineered part.

c) Generic crap.

I wouldn't bother putting a strut bar on an automatic. Not only are the automatics junk, but with an auto you don't have enough control over the car to push it to the point where a strut bar would be useful. And even then, unless you have other suspension work done, most strut bars have little to no effect, other than to bling up an engine bay and make the driver of the car feel like a tuner.

Get a Neuspeed or a Spoon.

Sorry about your luck... but for something that needs the brake lines moved that much, I don't recommend it.

Since it isn't a one piece, you may have assembled it wrong.

Also, you should remove the abs hoses bracket then it'll fit. But like wing said, it really isn't worth it in the long run.

those arent brake lines..... they are vacuum lines... and you can easily push them a little out of the way to fit it

Oh, just found a similar thread Upper front strut bar problem

I think I'll just return these bars and get the Tanabe TTB020F when I got money to blow so i won't have to screw around with these lines and wires.
