97 SH suspension help!!!

Ok before anyone has a cow, I have searched this and can't find the info I need. The search keeps saying SH and suspension are, too common of, search elements and it still gives me hundreds of threads to look through. So I'm starting a new one. My problem is this: I own a 97 SH with stock suspension. It's time to replace it cause it's getting bad. I went to a local dealership to try to order the parts but, they are discontinued and there is only one rear strut available in the nation! I know that the SH springs and struts are longer than those of the base model and that the outer tie rods are shorter. So I don't have an issue with going aftermarket or lowering the car a small amount. If I go with a shorter spring can I then use any strut that would fit the base model? I need some help. This a daily driver and I'm a working, married man-aka-broke, for you single guys out there. I just want to know what my options are before I go buying parts that will not work. Any help is welcome. Thanks guys!!

Have you tried majestic honda .com?

Car-parts.com is a national junkyard store. You can select part grade to get the best stuff.

Also click on some links in the resource guide and parts guide.

Re: 97 SH suspension help!!!

I managed to use front base shocks on SH springs. So that's why the fronts sits a tad higher cause the SH springs are longer? By how much?

Re: 97 SH suspension help!!!

What parts do you need? Front upper control arms, inner and outer tierods, and lower ball joints are still available from Honda. On the rear - upper control arms, and for the lower balljoints you have to get a knuckle. As for the shocks, unless yours are leaking and when you drive it feels like you are in a boat on water then they do not need to be replaced. The springs do not have to be replaced unless they are sagging.

Re: 97 SH suspension help!!!

Thanks for the suggestions. As for parts, I'm mostly concerned with a spring and strut setup. I've got the tie rods taken care of. I'm looking for options for aftermarket springs and struts or shocks. Will lowering the car by an inch or so allow me to use any aftermarket strut that would fit the base model(tokico, koni, tien ect...)? Or are there only certain bands/types that will fit after the car is lowered?
