Anyone know a tried and true'd method of lowering the drivers seat?

I have a '97 Prelude base and really want to lower the drivers seat. The kicker is I really want to do it cleanly and not all hack and chop style. Does anyone know of a good method to do so. As I am 6'3 my head is far to close to the headliner and I want to get the seat an inch or three lower. Thanks for any insight.

Looks like you might have to go and by some lower after market seats. Aside from ripping out the seat and sitting on a pillow on the floor, the only way you might lose some inches is in the seat cushion area. Don't really know of aftermarket rails for the oem seats that make them lower…

Aftermarket seats and/or custom rails.

I'm 5'10 and the sunvisors bugged me. I moved the seat back and clutching became an issue.
I reclined the seat some which helped some.
I bought a 3rd gen and the problem was solved.lol.

You could always install S2000 or RSX seats they sit a little lower, but to fit them in your car you will have to transfer over the seat pan and rails from your Prelude seats.

Re: Anyone know a tried and true'd method of lowering the drivers seat?

rsx seats are actually about an inch taller, s2000 seats would lower it a bit. i'm 6'4" and don't have many issues, my head fits in the sunroof hole lol.

If you look how the seat rails are attached, they just bolt on to the side of the seat. theoretically you could weld on a hole that is higher up to drop the seat a bit. i took 3 seats apart not too long ago, and swapped all the best parts to my drivers seat, and second best stuff to the passenger's seat, and everything seemed very straight forward. I think there used to be a write up on it, but I can't find it (on lowering the seat). take one seat out, start taking it apart, and see how much you want to get into it. do you know how to weld, or know someone who does?

so IMO, dropping the bottom by making the bolt hole higher seems the easiest, and can easily be made safely. but do some more looking around, and if you do it, take lots of pictures!

edit: or remove seats and sit on the floor. i drove around like that once. twas awesome
edit2: or you could remove some foam from the underside of the seat, take the whole lower cushion off and shave some off the bottom. you could easily remove an inch just doing that. there's really not a ton there however, so be careful with how low you go. also want it to be even. removing foam wouldn't mess with the safety of the seat.

Get S2K seats. They're crazy low.
