how to gain any hp without access to a dyno

ill just start off by saying ive got nothing to prove or am i going to a track or anythng, i was just wondering if its useless to upgrade my hedders /exhaust / intake if i do not also get a ecu change ?

i have a 5th gen prelude with a jdm engine and a lsd tranny getting put in next week. car already had a aem cold air intake on it and was thinking of just gettng a set of hedders /exhaust to go with it like i had on my old b series integra.

opon reading about the prelude abit, it seems that preludes dont respond to mods or bolt ons hardly, if at all, unless the ecu is changed or chipped or whatever by places like phaerable or ha sport or whatever. id be willng to toss a few hundred on a conversion harness and a chipped ecu or whatever but i live in butt **** nowhere and theres no dyno anywhere locally.

can i get an ecu from these guys with a little better basemap that would suffice for the minor bolt ons and see a little power increase, or is it impossible or worthless to do so without access to a dyno?

Those questions have been asked a million billion times.

Here's a sample from the 5th gen resource guide juuuuust a few threads above yours.

After devouring all the info you can here, go to honda-tech or prelude power and read, read, read.
I'd say prelude central but ya gotta crawl before you can walk.

You can "street tune". Also if your location is correct then check this out...http://www.briansspeedauto.com/

i don't know how far that is away from you but maybe look into it?

jesus man, its just a simple question. some people don't want to scour the internet just to read a 1000 conflicting reports on a dozen different sites. calm down and stop trying to come off snarky. if you cannot help or don't know the answer don't respond. simple.

Snarky? Sheez-aw-mighty. Ya try to give a man a fish and he complains he's gotta cook it!

How in the world you think we learned?! I pointed you towards about 200 combined years of experience.

Those guys who either invented this stuff or perfected it spent a lot of time writing it all down. The least folks can do is read it.
You can rest assured if the info was written by one of the moderators here (names in red) it's 99.99% accurate. I don't say 100% because things change sometimes. If conflicting opinions daunt you, pm a moderator and they will gladly give you the straight poop.

Snarky? Wow.... hey if you don't wanna take advantage of the gold mine of info, fine. But shortcuts lead to disappointment.

Re: how to gain any hp without access to a dyno

Bykfixer wasnt being snarky at all. He was being helpful. Maybe your new to forums but alot of ppl ask the same questions over and over and over and over.....you get the point. He linked you to a thread that has the info you need and even recommended other sites to help you out. Instead of you being a smartass maybe you should thank him for giving you info. He couldve just as easily told you to search it yourself. Stop being a dbag and look for info next time. Thanks

Edit: Just to help you out some. Since your only doing header, exhaust and intake you can give the guys at phearable.net a call/send an email. They can send you a basemap that will help with your mods. But your not gonna be looking at much of a gain from those few mods. If you really dont care about getting every ounce of power as you can with those mods I wouldnt worry about it.
