timing belt toasted in my 5th gen. need a replacement engine

so yeah , a 5th generation lude and my current engine is toast. transmission and everything else seems fine so id prefer to just replace the engine then do a total swap out of tranny etc.

looking at a jdm h23a vtec dohc blue top that came out of a Japanese accord sir wagon ch9. my question is this; will everything on my old 2000 usdm BB6 h22a work with this engine? will every thing fit or am I in for some trouble? can I still use my old transmission, etc?

any info much appreciated here guys. thank you. and nce place you guys have here.cheers.

Pretty sure that's a yea, but not 100%.

Ask vipers4life or m0bsta they both used h23a's for their swaps. Or wait for someone to chime in....

If its a base manual i'm pretty sure it will be PnP aside from using some components from the h22a4 like the power steering pump.

Go on Specializing in JDM-USDM Engines & Parts...hmotorsonline.com and call them during their business hours. They will tell you anything you need to know. I just ordered a H23a from them =).

Re: timing belt toasted in my 5th gen. need a replacement engine

i got a jdm h22a black top and manual tranny lined up to pick up locally from a kid that had it in a hatch that got wrote off for alot cheaper then the prices im seeing online. however, the kid said its out of a 97 but its closed deck so its gotta be a 96 down, am i right? so ths would make it obd1 , or what?

i had no idea there was so many freaking variations of the h22a. its almost like dating an adopted artsey chick, wayy too unecessarily complicated imo.

Re: timing belt toasted in my 5th gen. need a replacement engine

Update. Just got my hands on a h22a jdm with lsd trans for 300 bucks.came out of a swapped hatch that made friends with the ditch. Im Pretty good buds with a mechanic and he told me 500 bucks to swap out the motor and tranny and that includes fluids. Good deal I figure. He also is familar with the car it came out of and said it runs really well.

Once the cars done hes rolling into the other bay where hes swapping out my cloudy headlights for the black halo style lights , put on the front fender I picked online, and doing the body work and new paint. Its already black so its just going back original. 1200 bucks.

Suddenly my 1900 prelude is more like 4500 by the time its the way I want her and I havnt even done exhaust or buy a nice set of rims yet.....but if I can get a couple years out of it im happy.
