1998 prelude sh starts, then stalls

Hi, new to the forum, had the car for 5 months.
The issue is an intermittent starting issue. Sometimes when going to start the car ill turn the engine over, it'll start and run for a moment then just die.
It may only happen once, most of the time more than once. The worst it took nearly 15 try's to get it to start. My buddy seems to have better luck starting it than i do. The problem worsens if the car isnt used in a while, if let sit for a couple days or more.
Also on a couple occasions it has died while driving and started right back up again. It died on the highway coming home today and took 5 or so try's to restart. Spinning the engine with the momentum of the car wouldn't restart it either (leaving it in gear and trying to bump start it essentially).

Ive researched it a bit. The car has the redkey immobilizer setup, the redkey was lost by the previous owner and the original chip key is pretty worn down, thinking it could be a defect in the key i had a new chip key made, duplicated from the original, it works but the same intermittent start problem persists.

Ive read that the ignition switch setup can sometimes be the problem, dirty contacts etc. Also that there was a recall for it, ill check tomorrow if its been done, phone honda and run the vin.

Can anybody confirm that the ignition switch can be replaced without needing the redkey to reprogram? Does anyone have or know where to get diagrams of how the steering column on these cars are put together.

Any and all information is welcome, I really want this problem to be fixed.

Just a shot in the dark here, but maybe a jacked up alternator???

Sounds like the coil is starting to take a dump on ya or the main relay. Maybe your distributer cap and rotor are
on their way out? always rule out the easy stuff ist. My lude was getting those hard starts and turned out it was the coil. But deff run the vin.
