Timing belt change

Is anyone here around Los Angeles, California? I'm trying to find out what are good prices on a timing belt change- and what else is suggested to have done when doing a timing belt change. I asked a shop around where I work and the cheapest they quoted me was 480. Seems expensive to me...

What all should be changed when doing one?- I'm not sure if shops might try to cut the work short on me and charge me for a "full" service..... Also, the small green squared light that says "maintenance required" how bright is it supposed to be when you are requiring maintenance- cause sometimes I think mine is on???? but I can't tell if its just light from the dash getting through to it or if its really on- its not really that bright...also do I have to take it to a honda dealer to have it serviced? cause I've heard that when you take it somewhere else they can't turn that little light off.....true?

if you're up for a drive, take it to san marcos in san diego county. premier auto service... 760-591-3900. they charge $370 for t-belt. typically, you'd want to check the water pump and seals when doing the t-belt. labor's almost identical... so why pay for it twice? those guys are pretty honest about whether you'll need it or not.

Being that I've done a couple T-belt jobs on Preludes here's what you need to change on the 5th gen during any Timing Belt Job.

Required:
1. T-belt
2. Balance Shaft belt
3. Water Pump (bearings are known to fail)
4. Autotensioner (common failures on 5th generation)

Highly recommended:
5. Crank Seal (and retainer)
6. Oil Pump Seal
7. Cam Seals
8. balance shaft seal
9. Valve cover gasket

Optional:
9. Oil pump
10. This is a great time to switch to adjustable cam gears if you desire

5 years or 80,000 miles whichever comes first. Most people change before 80,000. Especially if you drive the car hard or you are getting some "gurgling" sounds from the timing belt side...do it ASAP! I'm changing mine first week in November and I have 72,000 miles...but the belt is 6 years old!
