As I was driving on I-95 I hit a some kind of bump or something that did my car in.
1. When I go like 70 mph, out of the blue my prelude start to vibrate really bad I have to slow down right away to like 50 mph. 2. When I go slow the steering wheel starts to pulsate from left to right. 3. When I let go the steering wheel it wants to do a U turn on its own. 4. When the brakes are applied the car have the same symptoms. What should I start with. I mean Im good with the engine stuff, but drivability I have no experience what so ever. Any INFO would be really appreciated. Thanks guys. Tony |

Re: I need help with my 5th gen
Could be a damaged a tire or wheel. Do a visual check, swap 'em around to different positions, and see whether anything changes.
Could have broken a suspension or steering link. Grab a copy of the shop manual (or print out the pages from a download), and do a visual check when you're moving wheels around. Could have knocked the alignment way out -- get it checked. Could have damaged a wheel bearing, CV joint, or ball joint -- if you can't see anything visually wrong, you'll just have to replace parts. But check the easy stuff first...the tire and wheel will often sacrifice themselves before you break the suspension. Your item 3 is the standout.

Jamie, makes a good point. Something of the same sort happened on my 96 tracer. It turned out to be a jacked up tie rod though.

Re: I need help with my 5th gen
either a ball joint, or a tie rod or a bent rim and the list goes on and on and on.

Re: I need help with my 5th gen
don't just start replacing parts if u don't instantly see whats wrong. spending $100 to have someone look at your car and diagnosing it for you can easily be cheaper than throwing parts at it hoping you get it right.
try moving the tire that hit the pot hole to the back, and while your moving it, inspect everything on that side while the tire and wheel is off. then visualy inspect the tire and wheel. bolt it on the back and give it a good spin, see if you caused the belt to slip in the tire when it took the hit |

Re: I need help with my 5th gen
Well so far the driver side bar thats connected to the cross member is broken by the first hole where the bolt goes through.
The the driver cv joint is completely shot I dont know how still dosent click. Im gonna replace this parts first cause they obviously need to be replace. then take Iit to the aligment place to see if anything is bent. I let.you guys know just in case it happens to someone else. |

Re: I need help with my 5th gen
If you're replacing ONE tierod I'd just replace the entire assembly.
