Very quick, simple question

Hey all,

Recently I was rear ended in my 99 prelude. The damage is quite minor, no dents or major things you would notice, but I did notice paint cracks, and some paint scuffs from the other car (by the way this was an instant hit n run). I also noticed that my rear bumper is now sagging a little, so I popped the trunk and saw that the three top middle clips are now missing.

I was wondering what type and size of clips I should buy to replace the missing ones. I'm also open to hearing suggestions about the paint cracks :)

Pics:

Thanks!

Re: Very quick, simple question

Do yourself a favor and remove the rear bumper, have your favorite paint shop repair and repaint, and get the missing plugs from Honda. I believe you will save yourself some grief and it will be done right the first time. From experience and my opinion for what it is worth. :)

Re: Very quick, simple question

Hondapartsnow.com for the parts. Or a junkyard as they are common to Honda trunks.

Mine was missing all three and bumper hung fine.

X2 on removing the bumper and repainting. Then you'll know why it's sagging too.

You can get those plugs from O'rielly or auto zone, any auto parts store 4 for like a dollar.
Don't waste your money there at the dealer

Re: Very quick, simple question

I ordered a bag off of eBay and replaced most of them on my car. They were said to fit a 9mm hole and fit most of the holes on my car (these too) as all of my clips were old and falling apart/missing cleats

Re: Very quick, simple question

Those clips are old plastic and break all the time... I personally prefer the ones with Philips head tops so they are easier to remove the next time, but at the body shop I used to work at we put in whatever fit, and made sure any that showed were the same style. The shop I'm at now uses the exact clips that were factory.

But you can get them at any parts store for cheap... As far as the bumper goes, If you have a lot of money to spare and the bumper is sagging its because the side mounts are broken. So I would replace the bumper and paint.
If you don't have money like that I would say attempt to fix the mounts yourself with some quality filler/fiberglass or something, and then take it in for paint
If you have no money at all, don't touch it, bumpers are painted different that metal panels because they expand and contract from hot to cold temps, and require a flex additive to handle that

Oh yea, and if you paint only the bumper the color match might've slightly off so make sure you put in for a trunk and quarter panel blend job if you want it to look right. But you could get lucky with just the bumper.... I wouldn't risk it though. I see professional painters all the time that **** up color matches on bumper jobs.... Come out a little lighter or darker, but if you get trunk, and both quarters blended, you won't have that problem. And blend panels don't cost half as much as base+clear.

Re: Very quick, simple question

Thanks for all of the info guys. I definitely don't have money to replace the paint right now... I was thinking of how I could prevent the cracks from getting bigger / chipping off :|
