Question about timing belt tensioner

So ill be doing a valve adjustment on my h22a here in a few days. Ive been thinking of doing the h23 tensioner swap but I want to check to see if maybe the previous owner had done it already. Is there a way since im already taking off the valve cover to easily check to see if I have the h23 tensioner? Thanks PZ

Re: Question about timing belt tensioner

Nope, cuz its not under the valve cover. The tensioner is on the drivers-side of the engine, under two timing belt covers.

Re: Question about timing belt tensioner

Just get the Kaizenspeed tensioner. Problem solved.

It's not even close to "in the area"; one area is the top of the motor, the other is the drivers-side of the motor.

The only thing they have in common is you do need to take the VC off before taking off the upper timing belt cover, but the VC is relatively cake-walk compared to the lower TB cover, where you need to take off the crank pulley and DS motor mount.

All depends on your mechanical ability.

Re: Question about timing belt tensioner

take off the upper timing belt cover while you've got the vc off and take a nice bright flashlight and look down, you can see it. you obviously cant change it, but you can see it. is should be obvious which one you have

Re: Question about timing belt tensioner

If you have power tools taking it all off should be easy. If not have fun with that crank pulley bolt.
