Possibly Totaled Prelude NJ

Hey guys, today i was t-boned by some lady. I was sitting at the light waiting for it to turn green, then I proceeded to go when it was green then a lady smashed into my passenger side going probably 35-40mph.
So my question is to you guys since this is my first accident, how do intersection accidents play out usually?

You would just need all of the suspension components of that side. If the damage is more than the car's value then it will be considered totaled.

Re: Possibly Totaled Prelude NJ

If I were you, I would start looking for used panels and suspension components. Depending on the body shop, that kinda stuff adds up real fast. So if you can get it cheaper, go for it. Less likely your car will be totalled.

Re: Possibly Totaled Prelude NJ

knowing new jersey, the blame will be on you... no matter what, younger kid driving sports car, they will make it your fault.

if they total it, buy it back swap what parts you want to keep into a new one you pick up, then part out the rest...

chances are, if she was going 35-40mph and your car looks like that, theres gonna be framework involved....

That wouldn't be fair though. I didn't run the light. She ran straight through the light. Even the car infront of me made it passed but he didn't get hit by her.

In va door to front bumper is your fault. You had time to avoid. Door to rear bumper, they're at fault. They had time to avoid.
Right/wrong? Got me. But that's va law. Aint got nuttin' to do with age, but everything to do with motion.

My son's car was smashed by a red light runner who claimed it was green. His insurance covered him and op's covered op. Car was totalled. Bought it back for $500 and sold it for 6.

Your car is very fixable so long as the frame isn't too beat.

Re: Possibly Totaled Prelude NJ

I hate to be that guy, but it sure does look like it might be totaled given its age. If I were you, I'd not only be scouring for parts, but possibly for a new used Lude altogether.

Sucks to see it man. Today a lady blatantly blew a red light opposite side traffic as I was on a yellow trying to make a left. I laid on my horn and she looked at me like I was crazy.

Remember the days when people actually DROVE their cars?

You straight then homie.
Pay your little deductable and keep on truckin.

Btw car-parts.com is a national junkyard source.
Hondapartsnow.com is new oem stuff
Roadkillcustoms.com gives you a list of junkyards in your area.

Many junkyards have e-requests where they email you when the car on your wishlist arrives.

Good Luck.

Thank you so much. This is exactly the info I was looking for.
&ATLude: My cousin who works in a body shop said that it will most likely be totaled since its age also.

Buy it back!!! Get a $50 car cover, and try to save it.. or maybe the remaining dough can be used for a better shell someday.

Thats the plan. I have a close relative who can probably pick up another lude in a dealer auction, but I will with school starting I really don't want to start a project

Re: Possibly Totaled Prelude NJ

any car is fixable, no matter how ****ed the frame is... oh except for the prius hybrids... the big batterys in those pos make the car totalled when they die because replacing them costs more than twice what the cars worth lmao...

but yea man, hope everything works out, but a tree hit me once and they said it was my fault due to a BAC of .38... but what do they know??? i took blame for the mailbox though

and just so you know whos getting paid by your taxes check out this video
nvm, cant find it, the cops probably deleted it from youtube... it was these cops coming up with a story to cover the one cops ass for hitting some lady because she was drunk.... they said her cat jumped out of the window or something... got caught, and 3 cops and the accident drawer all got fired. and they swear under oath...

I own a couple Maaco's in the DMV.
Fuk whose fault it is, you want to keep ur car and keep 4 in ur pocket. If the car is paid for (which it should be, based on the age of the vehicle) the insurance company should take a look at the damages, write an estimate and send you the check for the damages.

Usually if the damage exceeds 40% of the car's total value, then they will consider it a total loss. If this is the case, I hope you have P.I.P. coverage. But as long as the car isn't totaled, and the car is owned by you out right, the insurance should write a check in "YOUR NAME". This is key! As long as it's in your name, you can do what you want with the money, take it, buy used parts, avoiding a mark up from body shops like mine, and get the work done yourself, you can always have someone paint it later. Doing this you should save a lot of money!

Finally, the insurance company will try and convenience you to take the car to one of their shops, THIS IS BULL****! Don't do it! The insurance company gets a kick back from shops that they work with and send them business on a regular basis, this has been going on for years. Just say you feel more comfortable taking it to a shop of your choice! Be an ass when dealing with the insurance, trust me, it gets your further.

I claim injured every chance I get. Not telling you to do all that, but,...yea.

They gave me a check for 7200 for my prelude with 98k miles. Decided to give it up because I found a good deal on a 07 impreza and need some extra cash for school tuition.
I also have a AEM SRI that i could sell since i have no more use for.
