air intake

I've been driving my 2000 prelude for a few months now, and it's inspired me to learn more about cars. I've been talking to a few gearhead friends of mine, and they say that doing something with the air intake would give a performance increase and not be too difficult for me. They don't agree on what I should do, though. Through my own research, I've come up with these options:

Replace air filter with K&N (not too exciting)
Install cold air intake
Install ram-air intake

Which would be the best? I'm leaning toward cold air because the simple air filter replacement doesn't seem too exciting and I've heard that ram-air is a big hassle. I thought I'd get some 'professional' opinions before I drop $100+ on a new intake.

Thanks!
