cam upgrades

So I was looking at cams today and was wondering if there were any stock V-Tec cams that would be an upgrade on the H22A4? There's a lot of Honda's in the junkyard here and I figure if I could save a couple bucks on some from the yard I could spend some money elsewhere in the engine.

Stock? So your saying you want to replace the ones you have with the same thing?

Re: cam upgrades

I believe the Type S cams are a upgrade from our h22a4 cams. Though I doubt you'll be finding a Type S Prelude in a junkyard.

Re: cam upgrades

Just find some nsx cams, those are a direct swap, and should make about 60 more hp than the original cams.

Re: cam upgrades

Only the Type s cams are an upgrade. The F20C and the F22C1 in the S2000 are more closeley related to the K than any F or H series, despite the moniker.

That's why I was thinking junkyard cams, that way I'd have more money for rockers and springs.

Re: cam upgrades

or you could buy it piece by piece.... you dont need everything at once, thats why its called a build.

you build it, and building takes time. you need to make good choices when i comes to performance, and engine internals. go with the best for the best results, go for the worst for the worst results. its as simple as that. you go to the junkyard, and swap out for used cams, you dont know the condition you are going to get, until you have them. etc, etc, etc.

i can go on for hours, but im gonna get back to planning my build. dont just throw **** together cause it will make your car go faster. plan, save, gradually buy GOOD quality parts, new and fresh, so you know what your getting, and once you have everything. watch it all come together greatly. it also helps if you buy another cheap H series engine. i have a H23a1 that im gonna build for boost, because i was able to get it with a parts car i just bought.

been there done that, its wiser to save money and buy everything at once (you could get discounts for bigger purchases) or buy parts piece by piece but install them at once, you save money when you dont have to rip your engine apart like once in a year (like I have done)
