doing my own retrofits

as soon as it starts warming up and i can get some money, i will be replacing my ebay projector headlights with some depo headlights and retrofitting them.

the kit i will be ordering is the BI-XENON FX-R STAGE III KIT because as i understand, it will give low beams and high beams through the HIDs.
Bi-xenon FX-R Stage III Kit - Complete Retrofit Kits from The Retrofit Source Inc
i will be upgrading to the 50w ballast and getting the 50w 6k kit, and getting the gattling gun shroud

i was going to follow the guide here to get me through it

any input or something i overlooked? i've got $80 of gift card money left in my amazon account, so i'd be using that to purchase these depo lights.

since the HIDs would have the low and high beams, i would set up the bottom light as a daytime running light with either LEDs or my halogens that are in my ebay projectors.

Re: doing my own retrofits

how would you set up the high beams?
I know there are two sets of wires that plug into the pigtails for low/high but I'm unsure if the bi-xenon are made for cars with seperate low/high beam output.

I would be scared that once connected, the low/high beam would always be on with no way to actual have high beams function properly. Unless of course you just didn't run the highs.

Then again, I've never done a retrofit lol

Re: doing my own retrofits

there is like a solenoid that moves a plate to control low/high beam in the bi-xenon projectors basically just removes the cut off point. they come with the connectors to go into the factory harness and will just plug into the high beam socket. when there is voltage to the high beam socket, the solenoid will engage and move the plate out of the way.

will do. i have been talking to a few members on here doing part outs and i think my best price and quality will be the black bezel DEPO lights i linked in my first post.

only camera i have is my 8mp galaxy s 2 phone. but the quality of pics it takes is alright.

its $320 for the retrofit kit with the lens, bezel, bulbs, ballasts, etc. and its another $50 if i want halos. its a very difficult choice because i like the halos, but that is also more than a full tank of gas.

total cost of the project to have real projectors and HIDs will be around $450 after everything, which isn't too bad. when i started looking up stuff, i was expecting upwards of $600.

i cant decide between these projector lenses or like TSX lenses which i have heard good things about. but i like the idea of the bi-xenon

Re: doing my own retrofits

I'm not familiar with halos and stuff like that. I have seen some stuff on 5th gens that look like owl eyes. No thanx there. But I am looking to alter the factory look in the daytime somewhat.

Cell phones take great pix in the morning or afternoon if the sun is beside you or behind you. Galaxy's have a good camera.
