Open/short in ABS circuit

Lately the Honda has been pestering me with a few things. Some I can't address immediately, some I can. Such as these pesky ABS DTC's.

When I purchased the car (totally stock) I got the occasional ABS light, but it always went away so I thought nothing of it. Fast forward to a month ago, I relocated the battery to the trunk while waiting on parts to come in for the motor. ABS code popped; this time I pulled them. I got a 17 (open/short to body ground/short to power RL) and 81 (ABS CPU). I assumed the 17 was caused by a bad CPU (81), and ordered a CPU which I installed this evening.

The 81 is gone, now I have a 17. I followed the Helms troubleshooting procedure and made it all the way to the step where it tells you to:

*Check for an open in the wheel sensor circuit: Check the resistance between the appropriate wheel sensor (+) and (-) circuit terminals.


Resistance should read 400-2050 Ohms. I got nothing, open. The fix is to:

*Repair open in the (+) or (-) circuit wire, or short to the (+) circuit wire in the (-) circuit wire between the ABS control unit and appropriate wheel sensor.
*Replace the appropriate wheel sensor


I have no idea how to begin to find an open/short in said circuit, and I'd hate to replace another component (RL sensor) for no reason. I can't help but think I may have inadvertently hurt something during the battery relocation, but then again, it had an intermittent code prior to.

Thoughts?
