How to create more headroom?

Hey guys, I'm 6'1" and as many of us probably know, the Preludes are a little lacking on headroom for us tall guys (apparently Preludes were designed for Asians or something :p).

Anyway, what are the options for creating more headroom? I saw someone post that S2000 seats will slightly lower the seats, but that's probably out of the question for me because i don't want to spend that much money. I was thinking of having the bases cut and rewelded lower, but I don't think that's really feasible since the floor pan would probably get in the way. Just curious as to what is out there, if anyone has had any experience.

6'1" here and I too just turned the wheel on the side, it raises and lowers the back edge of the seat bottom.

Re: How to create more headroom?

when i got my custom seat rails the first question he got was how tall I was and i said 6'1" and he said oooh Sh!% lol any way he custom made them to where they sat more "low profile" and now i can even were my hat forward facing and (even before my head didnt touch) but i had to take my hat off :/ but the shop who did it was wedge engineering in california. they made them for my recaros and turn around time wasn't bad at all, their customer service is decent but overall its a great product and its been more than a year now with no complaints what so ever!

Re: How to create more headroom?

Huh..it actually makes a pretty damn good looking convertible.

Del Sol seats are super low, too. I bet those are just as hard to come by as S2K seats though.

chop the roof off and add like 2 inches of material and weld it back on. that should do the trick

Re: How to create more headroom?

I am 6 foot 6 and I don't even have the seat all the way back. Just reclined a little and I fit just fine. but I do not wear hats and in all honesty if I rolled the car I would be EFFED. I can also say that there is not room for anyone behind me.lol

Re: How to create more headroom?

Yeah, I can make do with what I've got. But i like to sit up pretty straight or else my back gets to me on long trips. And I can't wear a hat in the car either. No biggie, but just a curiosity question I guess.

HpreludeH, how much was the work you had done for the custom seat rails? Honestly anything that would work is probably well out of my price range.

As for Lurchenstien, man, I can't even comprehend how you fit unless you're lying down while driving!

Re: How to create more headroom?

Holy high rise lurchenstein, you must be at least 45 degrees from vertical.
In the summer you could put on goggles and ride sticking out of the sunroof.

Re: How to create more headroom?

On a serious note there's not much you can do. The stock seats are almost as low as you can go. I don't know about all 5th gens, but my 99 SH had leather seats with a little wheel on the side that changed the incline of the seat on the bottom which seemed to move the seat up and down a bit. Try that if you have it. Maybe some aftermarket seats would allow a bit more head room, but if you want comfort you chose the wrong car.

Quit sitting in the car like it's a truck. Recline the seat and you'll have plenty of room. Im 6,3 and have been driving preludes for damn near 12 years with no issues
