Replacing alternator belt

Hey guys so I'm trying to replace my belt, but I can't find the tensioner bolt. If someone has a picture of it that would be awesome, can't seem to find one on Google.

Thanks

Re: Replacing alternator belt

So the bolt is on the side of the alternator?

Re: Replacing alternator belt

You need to loosen both bolts that are on the sides in order to loosen and give the alternator room to move - and the actual tensioner bolt in on the front of the alternator/bracket.

Re: Replacing alternator belt

Loosen #11 and 8 first, which are 14mm I believe, so that the alt can freely rotate down as your loosening the tensioner.
Than loosen the tensioner bolt, #10, which is a 10mm I believe. The threads on the tensioner are prolly gonna be verrryyy rust, so I'd soakkkk them in WD40 before attempting this so you can turn it easier. I've snapped the head off the tensioner before cuz it was so rusty it barely turned, than SNAP!

Re: Replacing alternator belt

It's a tough bitch at first. I've resorted to a rubber mallet at times.

Just make sure everything is loose.

Re: Replacing alternator belt

If you want you can completely remove #8, 9, and 11, that way there's nothing else physically holding the alt into the bracket; just the belt, and the nut that holds the cable wire on.
