Icon9 so..i still got a stupid leak...

I replaced my taillight gaskets, thoroughly unclogged my sunroof drains, and in just two hours of driving in the rain my trunk is filled with water again. until i get someone to spay my car with water while i sit in the trunk is there anything else i should look at or anything at all? I really want to get this fixed! thanks!

if you undo the clip holding the carpet on over your taillight, and look for water lines going down from the holes where the holes for the taillights are. if it hasn't dried up yet, it should be obvious where the water is coming from.

Re: so..i still got a stupid leak...

Have you checked your trunk gasket? The one that surrounds the trunk.
If you can obtain dry ice you can put a cup of water in the trunk, drop in a chunk of dry ice, close the trunk and maybe the steam will billow out of the leak.
That's the quickest way to make a bunch of steam I know of.
Maybe pull out your carpet and pour colored/muddy or rusty water on your sun roof or around the trunk seams and follow the trail.
Pull out a rubber grommet at the bottom point of your trunk or drill a hole. I drilled mine at the low point and swabbed the bare metal with grease.

No water trails from the taillights, and the trunk gasket is my next guess but theres no signs of it leaking from what I can tell

Silicone absorbs water. If it is the trunk leaking, that will collect water and make the trunk rust out. Either get OEM gaskets or use Butyl rubber, the same stuff they use for installing/sealing windshields, it doesn't dry up, it doesn't absorb water, and it seals VERY WELL. Just don't get any on the lens, it's nearly impossible to remove.

it looks like there is some sort of liquid sealant all around the inside bottom of my trunk, were the walls connect with the floor, is this how it is on everyones ludes or was mine rear ended at some point?

Re: so..i still got a stupid leak...

I used butyl on mine and it sealed. I removed the gasket. washed it real good and dried it for a day in the sun. Make sure you get it clean-make sure it's fully dried. Mine was saturated with water and slime(mud). I used 91% isopropyl alcohol and cleaned both the rear body mounting area and the tail light. Then used butyl on both sides of the gasket. Figured if it leaked again I'd replace the gasket, so I wasn't worried about the butyl.

That's probably just OEM Honda seam sealer. It's used on welds and seams to prevent water from getting between them and rusting. Also deadens sound a little bit too.
