P13 vs P28 Hondata

I need a new ecu setup and tune. I've had people say that the p13 will have a speed limiter at 120mph? Can that be taken off if chipped and tuned with hondata? how about p28?

Re: P13 vs P28 Hondata

The p13 for USDM H22's does not have the speed governer. Are you running an OBD2 to OBD1 conversion? That's is what you will have to do with your 5th gen, but it will benefit you much more in the tuning aspect, though it would be close to pointless without aftermarket upgrades that would warrant a re-tune. I'm sure you could piggyback on an OBD2 p13 with a VAFC but not many people have been successful in pulling much power accurately that way. Plus, if you don't already have an OBD2 p13, good luck finding one.

just buy obd1 conversion harness and chipped obd1 ecu.

then go to some dynoplace and let tuner take care of rest.
you/tuner can do tuning with programs like chrome, emanager, neptune etc

I'm thinking that he was implying that you don't really need to spend $500 on tuning software if you don't have the engine components to back it up. Since we have no idea what is done to your car, that's really the only assumption I can make. You can get a chipped and socketed P28 with Crome for $150 all day, get the OBD1 conversion harness for..$100? I don't really know what those run.. But with Crome you can put some basic tunes on the car to map it for your location (i.e. altitude and air density) to have it function at it's peak, but I wouldn't trust Crome with anything more than mild upgrades on your car like I/H/E.

Re: P13 vs P28 Hondata

The car is being rebuilt for SCCA since I was screwed in classing with the way I had it before. Anyways, h23vtec motor, obviously IHE, skunk2 manifold, EGR delete. However it's there is parts are already gather for a complete head rebuild. port n polish, springs, valves,cams...etc...so therefore...VAFC is not going to cut it. I do have some time on this since I'm busy with chassis, roll cage, suspension, and brakes simultaneously right now.

you dont need hondata at all. you can do full tunes with those programs/softwares so hondata is just waste of money
