2001 Honda Prelude Left Speaker problem, need help

So this is a rough one seeing i know nothing about wiring or anything.. I had some speakers installed at best buy not even 4 months ago. Now my left driver side door speaker has shortened out. I thought it might of been the connection to the speaker but its not. It seems as if the wires behind the speaker going up into my door panel are getting crimped / cut off. Ill be ripping my door panel off today to see. Also i think the speaker (when i screwed it back in for the time being) shortened my head unit out because my head unit has said "Protect" and ive had to reset it many times. Wondering if anyone here has knowledge of this issue and could possibly guide me through? Appreciate it!!

It's a common issue for the wires to break between the door jam and car - in the little rubber insulation. If it's not an issue behind your panel or headunit itself, then the chances are more than likely in that harness in the door jam.

You need to remove the side skirt, front bumper (unless you fish the bolt out while the bumper is on), and fender in order to access the area.

The wires on mine were like that. I just removed the roll pin that limits the door's opening angle, and was able to use some ingenuity and agile hands to disconnect the door harness. I took the shorter route and just drilled through an empty spot in them and strung a wire through it. Kinda redneck, but it's better than what the previous owner did.

Try taking it back to Best Buy and see if they can help.

If you want to DIY though you can try running a new set of wires yourself and just splice them into the radio. Left front speaker wire on aftermarket harness is White and White/Black (black strip is - )

Then reset the radio

Ditto what Crash_1340 said. Had the same problem and once a new wire was installed, all is well.
Check out the link, I'm sure it will help although it is not a fun job!
