Icon7 heat shield help

i'm trying to clean up my engine bay.
heat shield is all rusty/dirty.
I'm trying to remove it but some hose
is in the way and I can't pull it up and
out to clean it. Any ideas?

*** this is the hose that's in the way.

just yank harder?

also if anyone can help, I'm missing
that little door to the blue 2 pin connector
on the passenger side. is there any place that
sells these?

** this is the "door" I'm talking about

Any help greatly appreciated

Re: heat shield help

"hose" above your heat shield.... the vertical one is your a/c line, the horizontal one to the left is your coolant line

Do not remove either of them, let alone mess with them. You should be able to remove all 3 bolts from the heatshield and slide it out without a problem. (two bolts on the top and one on the front closest the radiator)

What do you mean "door" for the connector? a picture would help...

Re: heat shield help

You should be able to remove the lower bolt it's a tight spot but you don't need to remove anything.

Re: heat shield help

You should just be able to shimmy it around and work it through the opening. There should be plenty of room

Re: heat shield help

I'm currently waiting on my phone to charge
so the flash will work...
I'm able to get off all 3 bolts on the heat shielf
but I can't manage to shimmy it out.
I'm a little weary to use more force as I was
really really trying already..

will be back with pics soon!

Re: heat shield help

Make sure you wear some gloves, that thing will cut you pretty good if not protected.

I know mine was on pretty good even without being bolted on, a few good yanks and light taps with a hammer got it off.

Re: heat shield help

It should come out. But is there anything else in the way besides that hose? Like the fans, because those are easy to remove

Re: heat shield help

Get it out like their all saying but the obd2 port and ATTS code reader door is what's hes talking about right on the center console next passenger feet. You could go to the resource guide and find a parts website that sells everything down to the bolt but when you get it out sand it down good wash it up with dishsoap whatever you want make sure you rinse it as best you can and what I did was used some ceramic engine paint rated at like 1400-1700? Degrees somewhere around their but used chrome . The back of it had details on how to apply I used 3 layers and waited 30 minutes in between everycoat. Im on my phone right now and can't upload a pic but ill get to it

still hasnt cracked chiped nothin did it a couple months back

Re: heat shield help

Just remove the three bolts and it should come right out. Could be stuck with a little engine grime so pry off an edge with a screwdriver. It should clean up real well and can be primed and painted with high temperature products.

You will probably need to order the access panel door from a parts supplier or maybe a junkyard.

Re: heat shield help

Again, it's an A/C hose. it's very costly if you end up removing or messing with any of those hoses in that area.

Remove the 3 bolts and the shield will come off. detailed instructions:

Remove top two bolts
Remove front bolt
pull shield away from motor (towards radiator support) - to clear power steering bracket
slide shield upward and out of engine bay

As I also mentioned, you may have to tap with a hammer or something to break it loose and yank at it...

The door you're missing is a $20 or so part from Honda. Go to your local dealership and tell them you need the part associated with this number; 83408-S30-A00ZA

That is the exact part number for the door you are in search of.

Re: heat shield help

majestic honda is cheaper than the dealer for more pricey stuff like rotors or egr stuff. but the discount would probably be negated by s&h on the $20 part.

Re: heat shield help

I took mine off last weekend. My 3 bolts where so rusted that im going order 3 new ones because it ruins the look of the clean heat shield.
But i really didnt have a problem removing it, after fighting the rusty bolts the shield came out fine.
