Nothing but problems with Jdm h23 swap

I have done tons of research on this swap and am not finding my answer. Please help.

Swapped out by base model h22 to this motor and it ran fine but the oil light was on (blinking) when it warmed up. (Had h22 distributor, harness, oil pan, pump and pickup)

Changed the pump, pan and pickup to the h23 and now it's not starting.

I read that we need to use h22 pump with the h23 pan and pickup.

Do we need to put the h22 pump back on, or can we use the h23 pump? If so, what do we need to do, or what do we need to do?

If we need to wire the distributor, where can I find a diagram since their are more wires on one.

Re: Nothing but problems with Jdm h23 swap

You either need to run the h22 pump with the h22's crank position sensor or rewire the jdm distributor. Double check all of your connections, make sure the oil level is correct and possibly swap out the oil pressure sensor to a known good one. Did you make sure to swap the VTEC oil pressure sensor over from the h22 onto the h23? The JDM h23 just has a block off plug where the oil pressure sensor should go on the VTEC solenoid. IF you have anymore H23A JDM VTEC questions, hit me up, I just completed the swap successfully.

i dont understand exactly what u did , because if you say the h22 had a flashing oil light which means low oil pressure which most of the time is caused by a failing oil pump which you then put on your good h23 engine ?

We had the H22 pump, pickup and pan on the h23 (with h22 distributor)
(results - oil light flashing when the car warmed up, other than that, the car ran great)

We put in the h23 pump, pickup and pan to get the light off
(result - car wont turn over)

question - do we need to put the h22 pump back on with the h23 pan and pickup? or can we put on the h23 distributor and rewire it?

Everything that I have read says we have 2 options
- Option 1: put the h22 pump back on and the car should be fine
- Option 2: remove h22 distributor and put on the h23 distributor and rewire and the car should be fine

Im just trying to get clarification on if this is correct.

Yes. Use the h22 pump with h23 pickup and oil pan. Using the h22 pump all you need to do is reuse the old crank sensor and use the h22 dizzy as well. It should be plug and play from there. Thats how i have it setup in my 99 and it runs like a champ

Use the h22 oil pump, wiring the dizzy is not a true way to run the motor, you will have false misfire codes.
