Dash Gauges and Climate control lights wont work need help

I bought my 01 prelude a month ago and when i installed my aftermarket headunit i had a wire showing still and shorted something i think. my gauge bulbs were all blown and i replced them and the fuse, covered the exposed wire and still have no lights just for the gauges and climate controls. I followed the scamatics and it doesnt make any sense cuz if the lights were out so would the ash tray light and its on. I took it to Honda and they told me that aftermarket headunits could throw things off. and they checked it out for 4 hours and found nothing. has anyone had similar problems or knows something? It sucks not seeing at night.

Thank You.

Check your dash light dimmer switch. I'm not too sure of the circuit if there is any other relays or anything. But I would start at the dimmer switch. The little wheel beside the moonroof switch. You may have fried that as well.

They are on the same small wire harness that is pretty easily changed. You didnt damage the harness did you? (while installing)

Replacing my dimmer switch was the 1st thing i thought of and bought another switch but that wasnt it either. when i took it to honda they tested the circuit and it was getting power but the lights wouldnt light up (dash gauges and climate control lights) so it cant be the harness. there is a relay under the hood for interior lights and i think i seen a dimmer relay. would that be anything on the circuit?

if there is a relay, a short would definately blow it.

My guess would be blown fuse or relay. Sometimes it's the simplest things.

check your brake light fuse!! this happened to me a few weeks ago. I couldn't figure out why it was only my dash lights and climate control lights out. then one morning at six o'clock while i was letting my car warm up i notice that my brake lights weren't on (headlights were on cause it was 6 am)
so i just checked the fuse and replaced it!
