Optima red top question.

I bought a optima red top battery. It came with brackets to tie the battery down from the bottom rather then the usaul tie down bar. Has anyone used them? Or is it possible to use them for our cars? I couldn't find anyone using them online. Im going to try to make them work Friday but if it's not possible I'd rather not go through the trouble. Thanks.

Re: Optima red top question.

As long as you can get it secured down somehow then you'll be fine. Since it's a dry cell battery you can mount it upside down if you want lol

Yeah lol. I read the paper that came with the battery and it says it's usaully for GM cars/trucks. I guess we can't use them.

Re: Optima red top question.

why wouldn't we be able to use it? as long as it has enough cranking apms and fits, should be all that matters.

Re: Optima red top question.

You can use the battery, you can't use the tie downs that come with them. They're meant for Ford and GM applications that tie the battery down by the base instead of the rod-and-bracket design that Honda uses.

Re: Optima red top question.

You can use them, I used to have one in my car. Just use your factory bracket and tray and you will be set.

Re: Optima red top question.

I know the red top fits and works with our cars lol but my question was if we could use the tie downs that came with it. Oh well I ordered a tie down since mines was rusy and nasty. Thanks guys.

Re: Optima red top question.

It kinda is. if it flops around and falls over it will leak unless it is a dry cell. also it had to be held down to pass inspection. atleast in pa

Re: Optima red top question.

The tie down isn't needed but I feel much safer with it on. I don't have the tie down on right now since Im wating for my new one and it moves sideways a little and the metal tray keeps it from moving anymore. Also autocross and any racing events require a tie down.
