Prelude died :( help me

Today after getting my car back from the mechanic i drove my car and while shifting from 2nd to 3rd it died. the car wouldnt start but all the lights were working so im positive its not electrical. could it be the timing belt? They were working on that today. I tried turning it on 3 times but it wouldnt start, what damage could be done?

Re: Prelude died :( help me

If your timing belt broke you couldve bent valves. Take off your valve cover and see whats up.

Re: Prelude died :( help me

Sounds like the timing belt. Could be lucky and no damage.

Re: Prelude died :( help me

So, if this is the mechanics fault since he indeed did work on the timing belt side of my car, is he liable to get it fixed? Like anything that needs to be replaced? I have the receipt and it says "Warranty is against defective parts and or bad workmanship only"

Pretty much got flamed for driving like a jackass and was told to slow down. And I'll be damned, slowing down fixed it.

Re: Prelude died :( help me

This would fall under the category of "bad workmanship" ....but did he replace the timing belt/water pump/tensioners? Or was he just working on that side of the car?

Re: Prelude died :( help me

If that mechanic did mess your engine up, then they are liable obviously and the mechanic may get fired. That's an expensive mistake.

Re: Prelude died :( help me

I had a mechanic change my t belt water pump and tensioners. 2 weeks later the belt shreaded and snapped. I too was lucky and had no damage. He replaced the belt and a year later its still good. Your guy should fix the problem since he warranties his work. Maybe you too will be lucky and have no damage to the valves. Let us know what he says.

Re: Prelude died :( help me

Update: I took it to the mechanic, he installed the timing belt gasket wrong and my belt sucked it in and the timing belt stretched, they're gonna perform a compression test to make sure nothing bent

Re: Prelude died :( help me

Update 2: The water pump pulley failed and they are saying that was one of the reasons why the timing belt messed up, the company who makes the water pump is coming to my house so i can sign insurance papers so that they can fix everything. Oh yeah, the valves did bend
