Help finding some cheap body parts for 5th gen. Have about $3000 to spend.

Hello. So about two weeks ago, I was in a car accident while driving my Lude. Guy cut in front of me coming out of a parking lot to my right without looking if I was coming. I hit the brakes but couldn't avoid him. My front drivers side hit his back pretty much destroying my front drivers side. So I got $3000 coming in from his insurance to fix the car. What I'm wondering is if people know of some cheaper online stores that sell body parts. I know of rockauto, hondapartsnow. As from you can see in the pictures you can pretty much see what parts I would need. Maybe even someone on here selling parts would work. Thanks and I'm glad to be part of this community!

Re: Help finding some cheap body parts for 5th gen. Have about $3000 to spend.

damn, looks like suspension is bent as well?
so far i see:
-headlight (will have to buy as a set)-200ish
-front bumper
-bodywork done on hood
-either radiator or the windshield washer fluid container
-left front fender

sorry to say, but im not sure if 3k is going to fix this... although there are many variables, and i am unsure of how much work you would be doing on your own.

Re: Help finding some cheap body parts for 5th gen. Have about $3000 to spend.

Nope suspension, radiator, the bar behind the bumper is all good. From what I have collected so far is:
Bumper cover
Absorber
Pair of headlights
Fender (including inner)
Turn light assembly
Side marker

My dads friend owns a body shop so he will fix the hood, remove minor rust on the car and re-paint the whole car for about $900 including paint. (Because he's been a family friend for years)

The washer tank I still haven't seen if it leaks or not. The reason it leaked in the picture is because the pump came off the tank but I was able to fit it back in and when I hit the switch inside to clean, it sounds like the pump still works. I don't mind if the parts are aftermarket (obviously the insurance used aftermarket to come up with the estimate). And from what I've seen online, the most expensive parts believe it or not are the headlights

I will be attempting to place all the parts on myself. I honestly don't think it's too hard to do so.

3k for all of that? good-luck is all I have to say. A guy reversed into me doing like 10km/h in a Tim Hortons drive threw and split my front bumper and one headlight along with a tiny dent in my hood by emblem.
The shop replaced both headlights with some black housing depos at my request, entire brand new frontclip ( bumper ), new front emblem and painted the entire bumper and even repainted my entire hood, 1900$ and some change was the total cost.

Re: Help finding some cheap body parts for 5th gen. Have about $3000 to spend.

My estimate was about $3700. $2000 being just labor. The parts were only about $1200-$1500. So I know it's possible with aftermarket and used parts. I just need to find were. Like I found this bumper cover for $70. Aftermarket but should do the work.

Here's the estimate. And this was from a certified honda shop so it was a bit more expensive than other shops

P.S sorry for picture quality. I'm on the iPad

Go on ebay for the headlights and many other parts, you'll find a lot of those parts for a lot less. Headlights cost about 190 on their

Space that is very tempting. I might just wait but I was hoping to get the car fixed before the snow comes in and before I leave to NY. Are the headlights depo?

AcedPRELUDE I saw some Depo blacked out for $190. I'm also looking to retrofit and take advantage that the car will be apart.

4k to fix whole thing? Damn... my best friends father is a professional body work and painter. He will do it for $800 buck in labor plus $ for parts. I'll say $1.2k for everything but suck He is at Fla. Well good luck!

Re: Help finding some cheap body parts for 5th gen. Have about $3000 to spend.

That will easily be done. Avid you will have extra money left over. Go to a junk yard and get the parts. And then you will have the rest of the money to play with.

Ouch. Try hitting up your local salvage yards, You can find everything you need for a good price if there's a prelude there that has what you need.

Re: Help finding some cheap body parts for 5th gen. Have about $3000 to spend.

I actually got into a similar accident myself. Same side just less damage. Cracked bumper, peeled fender, cracked headlight, broken turn signal and the bumper came off on the side I got hit. I haven't gotten the estimate yet, but a new bumper, headlight, fender, and turn signal alone will be like $600-800 plus painting and labor, probably about $1500-2000 for me, but we'll see.

Re: Help finding some cheap body parts for 5th gen. Have about $3000 to spend.

get some after market parts you will save soooo much! I had a similar problem, my front fender and bumper (on passenger side) were ruined, in a parking lot after school she was in reverse and didn't look. I was quoted 2K to fix it all with OEM parts, new paint ect. I got it fixed with After Market parts and it only cost me 1000$ so I saved 1000$. Try it out

Re: Help finding some cheap body parts for 5th gen. Have about $3000 to spend.

I'm going to start ordering parts today. Unfortunately none of the salvage yards around here have any 5th gens. Only 4th :/ craigslist is a no no too. It's pretty hard to find a clean prelude around here. There are some, but sometimes the product is not worth the price.

Btw has anyone done a retrofit with the mini morimotos H1 5.0? I know those are the screw on type that you don't have to mount like the other ones. Thanks guys for all the suggestions. Hopefully all these parts I'll get soon and can get my baby back to her original state. I will definitely show you guys the progress.

Re: Help finding some cheap body parts for 5th gen. Have about $3000 to spend.

Have you tried hondaautomotiveparts.com ?

Front bumper: $198
L bumper cover: $10
L fender: $185
L inner fender: $58
Absorber: $37
L turn assembly: $35
L side marker: $31
Ebay headlights: $180

So, $734 total for the parts you need, new OEM. Unless I missed something. Plus $900 for the paint job and body work you talked about, and I'd say you just made $1400, unless you want to pay someone else to put it all back together. Merry Christmas!

Re: Help finding some cheap body parts for 5th gen. Have about $3000 to spend.

Well I got a quote from my insurance company for $4000 worth of damage. They priced my car at $4900 so I'm almost certain that after the body shop looks for hidden damage they will total it. To be honest, I wouldn't be sad if they totaled it because my lude is a lost cause and $4900 is more than I can get by selling it.

They appraised my car at $6000. That's why they were still able to repair it. Plus I've done too much to it so far (maintance wise) since I first got it to let it go.

Well sometimes no matter how much work you did on a car, you come to a point where it's just not worth saving.
