D4 Blinking...

Before anything... I am doing the 5 speed swap soon. Just waiting on the right parts car at a good price to come my way. I just need this auto to last me until then or I'll be stuck hitching rides to school or the bus.

Last night on my way to a meet my tranny freaked out, going to 4th it struggled then the d4 starting blinking and it just didn't want to go into 4th. I tried putting it into sports shift and the d4 kept blinking and the little screen that shows the gear your in didn't turn on and didn't shift. Put it back into auto slowed down to a red light, didn't completly stopped but when I took off it didn't downshift like it should and wasn't riding smooth at all. rode like that to the meet since it's only 10 minutes from my house. Turned off my car hung out for about 2 hours. Finally left and when I turned back on my car the D4 wasn't blinking. Drove just fine home with no blinking put it into sports shift to see and the screen came back up and shifted fine. This morning I was pulling a CEL which is CYP sensor due to a loose wire somewhere (CEL has been there for weeks) And noticed my D4 was blinking. Counted the blinks and it's 4 long and 5 short, so 45... Go into the helms manual to the automatic transmission chapter and the codes stop at 41... Googled everywhere and cannot find anything on it. I know Im reading the code right but there's nothing about it in the manual. Anyone have a clue? Or can help?

Re: D4 Blinking...

Okay thanks let me look.

Im not too worried about fixing it unless it's a cheap easy fix. I don't want to dish 100+ bucks on this crap auto. But also I just don't want to get in my car and drive it daily to get stuck on the side of the road cause my tranny gives out.

Re: D4 Blinking...

I've been through the blinking D4 light but the tranny was still under warranty and doing exactly what yours is doing. Turned out 3rd and 4th clutches were burned up. So that may or may not be your problem just my experience.
