Icon5 Prelude misfiring? Someone help please!

The video has a good insight of what my problem is. I thought why try to explain my problem when I can just show you guys :D Any opinions are greatly appreciated!

Pretty much just trying to figure out what is wrong with my Lude right now... This problem is annoying as hell. If you know anything about this problem, please comment or message me on what you think it is. Thank you! Sorry for the rattling like sound. Trying to drive a manual transmission car while holding a camera is pretty hard LOL.

ALSO! I don't think it's my tach cluster either because as I'm accelerating I can feel the car cut in and out... Kinda like a misfire or something...

Only Mods I have are:
Dual Chamber AEM Intake
Custom made 2.5" piping from cat and back
Magnaflow Exhaust

Re: Prelude misfiring? Someone help please!

Were you the one that pulled the codes to find out they are the knock sensor and IACV?

If not, pull the codes and double check what they are.

The issue is not misfiring. First things first- Clean your idle air control valve. That may very well be your issue, especially if you're throwing a code for it. Clean it if possible or just get a new one.

Re: Prelude misfiring? Someone help please!

Def not a misfire. Do as wing says and get the exact codes and post them up here and clean out your iacv. Generally when I see tachometers jump around like that, it tells me something is wrong inside the distributor.

Wow that looks and sounds bad. I don't have much knowledge of this, but there might be something wrong with your transmission.

No idea how it could be transmission related when it's a 5spd and cannot operate on it's own as automatics can...

If you don't have much knowledge then don't post a guess of a completely wrong problem. Just sit back and read what the more advanced users write to better your knowledge.

Yeah I was the one who pulled the codes. I have attempted to clean the IACV. Twice in fact. When I clean it I used brake cleaner. I think I need to buy a new IACV just dont have the money to grab a $239.00 IACV from Oreily...

What do you mean by the distributor? Because I changed my Distributor cap & Rotor, if that's what you meant. Or is there more than one distributor that I should know about? When I accelerate I can feel my car cut in and out as its choking on something at the same time my needle just bounces everywhere. So I don't think it's something electronic?

Lol. That can still mean when I'm driving it. In drive means when I'm gassing the car for it to move. Also you can hear me shift gears in the video. Besides, Type SH are only manual transmission cars. I believe only base prelude can come with an automatic transmission.

Actually, I just looked at the cluster - manual cluster.

Re: Prelude misfiring? Someone help please!

Im kinda having a idle problem right now myself. Most of whats wrong with it is fixed but it was misfiring in all cylinders. i think it was like a p1399?? maybe. something like that, i erased all the codes. But my problem was a vaccume leak on the intake manifold because of a crappy gasket. I had to hook up a smoke machine to my pcv valve line to find the leak. I would check for vaccume leaks just because it happened to me and my car sounded pretty similar when i was driving with misfire codes. Good luck

Re: Prelude misfiring? Someone help please!

typically with 5th gen's the fitv or iacv cause idle issues eventually. but vacuum leaks, dirty throttle body, egr dirty, clogged fuel filter, bubbles in the cooling system, dizzy cap and it's innerds, $h1tty gas in the tank or a combo of any of them can cause an issue like yours..

seafoam for cleaning stuff like the iacv is the official prelude zone product but i suppose brake part cleaner got the job done.

good luck and keep us posted. i looked forward to see-ing you post 'fix'd' on this thread.
