Help! I think the dealer is trying to screw me...

Hey guys, :(

I havent gotten my car yet cause the dealer didn't have it ready yesterday....

Just to recap...I'm trying to buy a 98 prelude, i'm trading in my current car and the total price comes out to 5800. The car was supposed to be ready last friday but i had them keep it so they could paint and fix a few things- well they painted it and told me that the car would be complete by this monday. On monday i show up and the car has had nothing done to it- the guy taking care of things didn't go to work that day...so they tell me the car will be ready this tuesday(yesterday)...so i get there and the guy whos supposed to sell me the car tells me that he was driving it back from the repair shop and that the clutch broke on him, so he tells me that i need to go 50/50 on the expenses so i need to give them another 200 for the clutch...he says the clutch is really expensive cause its a hydrolic clutch( is that true?)...i went to see the car and the car s till has nothing fixed and now he tells me that i need to wait til tomorrow( today) but that he wants me to stay so that his boss can check my trade in....

I've already given the signature on the bottom of the contract- the "buyer signature" i had to sign that to show that i was going to buy the car so they could start making repairs and know that i wasn't going to flake out....

What should i do? I mean i think that the car looks alot newer now so they want to keep it and sell it for more so they're giving me all this bs- the guy had given me a 1500 dollar price cut with my trade in and now his boss needs to see it? wtf.... and should i pay the 200 dollars for the clutch replacement even though the car wasn't in my possesion and i did not break it?

I had told the guy that the clutch felt funny, so he told me he would give me a 3 month guarantee on the clutch incase anything happened to it when i took it we'd go 50 50 on the expenses, but that requires for me to have the car doesn't it? otherwise i'm paying to have a car sold to me that works???

Is there any legal help that I can seek or call... someone told me that i can call the office of customer protection?? is that true? lol

sigh, sorry guys for all the questions but i'm really ticked off because i've been driving around with out insurance for 3 days now because i thought i'd get this car by monday....

thanks guys

i dont think a clutch would cost that much but then u got to think about labor and such. and when my cluch went out it took some time. took about a month. just when i would hit the gas going the rpms would go up. tell them u want the car and quit bsin u around. or u will get legal help

I was thinking of that but what kind of legal help? also, he told me that this car has a hydrolic clutch, is it true? its not operated by a fork and cable like the others?

i think they have the same clutch type as the 4th gen. and they are operated with pressure from the master cylinder to the slave with no cable. all pressure so i guess it is hydrolic. i really dont think that adjust price that much. just call them up and tell them to quit charging u crap when u didnt drive it and if they say they need to charge u for it before u can get it. tell them u will get a lawyer
and get out of the deal unless they do u right

If any work needs to be done, ask for a "Due Bill" that puts it in writing .what is is a lil peice of paper that says what they will do to the car b/4 u buy it, but as for the clutch go to a honda car deler and ask how much it would be to have one taken out anda new one put in that will give you a high ball when it comes to how much you would have to pay. and most place with any warreny will have you pay eather 100-500 deductible to do work
