Icon8 2001 CPS problems

hi there,

i have been having some troubles getting my gf's car back on the road. it is a 2001 145k base model, manual trans all factory except the stage II kevlar clutch i had installed. ill give a little history on what i have done and what the car is doing now. bare with me plz...

not 100miles after i broke the clutch in the timeing belt auto tentioner blew out on me. i did my homework and decided to do the manual tentioner upgrade. all went well with that it was back on the road and ran better than ever. well i thaught i had counted all my bolts out right when i put it all back together, turns out i dident... we had droped one of the timeing cover bolts inside the cover durring reassembly. it worked its way down to the cps. it rode ontop of the cps for a while, until it ground 1/2 way throo the sensor, chewed up the timeing belt, then fell down further. the bolt then was cramed throo betwene the block and the back of the balancer shaft pulley... it was a mess when i pulled it apart to look everything over. this is the most douch bag thing i have ever done to a car at this point. i felt like a grasshopper.

anywho, i ordered a chepie sensor pulled it back apart, threw the CPS in there, back together with her, and away i went, again....

now no matter what i do i throw code p0335 and the car goes into limp mode. its not right away it seems to be when the engine compartment warms up, not the motor itself, but when everythign else around it is nice and warm, BAM the code comes back.

I have searched and searched for clues and i am out of options on this one. did i get two chep of a sensor? is there a tab on the back of the balancer shaft pulley i may have dammaged? is it possable this is from the ballance shafts being misalighned? ( i kinda cheated the last time) im really at a loss as to what to do with it now. im about to take it in to a shop but my fear is that they will have less skill than i do, just more tools...

my plan at this point is to pullit apart and retime everythign the right way. bayond that im stumped. any advice you guies could come up with would be a blessing, this thing has been down for far too long.

thanks
Bronze.

i ran into this awhile ago. i made a few threads about them. look them up. might help. same exact symptoms as you...once it was warm it would mess up. i'd check the gear to make sure it is still okay but i ended up just using a h23 odb 1 distributor

Re: 2001 CPS problems

well i got that done. ill spare all the painstaking details. 3 distributors, 2 sets of sensors, and 2 days. the 2.3l dizzy is in, wireing is done and i got rid of my pesky p0335 code.

thanks so much.

now that im an expert on honda dizzyz. i have an abs problem. the cel starting flashing at me on the testdrive. flash for a while then solid. then flash then solid... i hooked up the 2wire jumper and my abs light begins to flash. i get 61. ignition voltage? im going to check over the wireing agin tomorow and make shure i dident miss a loose connection.

it runs like a dream now and all the functions work as intended. im just confuzed on how i effected the abs system.

thanks agin. im closer and closer to dd'n it agin!
