Coolant leak

I bought a 98 prelude sh last weekend and have been driving it for 4 days now. I drove my car from school to a friends house and noticed when i left there was a leak from under my car. I checked the coolant and the hole bottle was empty. I will post a picture of where is squirted the most.

Re: Coolant leak

Well, if you're using a hole bottle for overflow, of course it'll be empty! (Sorry...couldn't resist.)

I'm not certain how your picture's oriented, but if that's a heater hose in the photo, it might be a pinhole leak in the hose. Run the engine until it's good and warm, and look for the leak.

Re: Coolant leak

i'm gonna reccomend you download a repair manual.
honda tech . com has the pdf their mechanics use available.
you'll be suprised how many questions it'll answer.

looks like a heater hose issue best i can tell.

Re: Coolant leak

The second photo is your purge solenoid for the evap system. Leave it alone.

Re: Coolant leak

As previously suggested - start the car and let it warm up. Look for leaks in the bay as it warms up. Could be one of your main coolant lines going to the block or heater core - or even one of the smaller lines going to the intake manifold for the IACV

Re: Coolant leak

once i had a leak that wouldn't show until the system was cooling down. ran the car, looked n looked but found no leak. neighbor shows up to shoot the breeze. hood was up while we talked and in a few minutes a hissing sound was followed shortly after by a green mist on a hose at the connection.

you could pump it up but my experience with that is other leaks soon after.

Or find/buy a hardcopy of the Helm manual -- that's the one produced for the factory. Best reference you can have for your car.
