Intake removal 98 prelude SH

Hi I just got a 98 Prelude SH and was wondering how to remove the intake filter at the bottom to make sure its cleaned up from the previous owner. If anyone could help me out that would be great. Thanks.

Re: Intake removal 98 prelude SH

Remove the whole thing? Or just the top to check the filter. To check the filter there should be 3 or 4 clips on the side of the air box just unclip them and pull it up and should show the filter to take in and out. To the the whole thing out just unplug the tube from the intake to VC from the intake tube and unscrew it from the manifold.

Is it a short ram or a cold air intake? The filter should be connected to the intake tubing by a big hose clamp that you just loosen up and it slides off.

Well I have a cold air intake and the filter goes to the wheel well and maybe seems like I would have to take my wheel off. I can send pics if need.

To get to a CAI air filter you need to take off your bumper, 2 screws in each wheel well 3 on bottom and 4 clips under the grill. Idk if you can get to it through the wheel well by removing the molding either way removing the bumper is easier.

Yeah you can take the bumper off or just take off the splash guard in the fender well. Helps if you turn your wheels all the way to the right.

wrong

no need to take bumper or wheel off, you can "open" the plastic inner frender from front below that much, that you can take the filter off

you just need to take 2 bolts off and you can get there
