Icon5 Honda Acoustic Feedback System - code to enter for power loss

Hey, everyone.

I'm about to install foglights on my '00 'lude, and will (according to instructions) be disconnecting the neg terminal from the battery when I do. Since the stock radio will stop working unless/until I enter the code, this presents a bit of a problem, as the dealership I bought the car from does not have said code. It's not in any of the paperwork that I had to wrench from the dealer.

Where or who do I contact to give proof I am the owner of the car and radio in order to acquire the code?

Tnx,

So, now I just have to disassemble the console to remove the radio and get the serial number. Joy. :)

Re: Honda Acoustic Feedback System - code to enter for power loss

you might be able to contact your local honda dealer with the vin number and they should be able to pull up the code for you. all you'd need to do to show proof of ownership is show them the insurance card or registration with the vin number on it. and removing the radio is cake. carefully remove the trim to expose the 4 screws. pull those 4 screws out and the radio slides right out. takes less then 2 minutes.

Yeah you don't have to disconnect the battery. they tell you to disconnect it any time you deal with electical because people are stupid and mess with the wrong things when playing with wires.

Re: Honda Acoustic Feedback System - code to enter for power loss

Thanks, again, everyone. Actually, it was much easier to get the radio out than it was on my '95 Accord. THAT involved removing part of the center console just to get the trim out of the way. This was MUCH easier (as Beaker pointed out.) Thankfully, the instructions for that were found in the DIY section. (I LOVE THIS FORUM!)

And I appreciate the assurances that I don't need to disconnect the battery. But I'm such a paranoid f**k that I will be disconnecting the battery, anyway. Better safe than sorry.

But, now I have the S/N. I recently created an account on Honda Owner Link, and will be entering the S/N and code, just so I'll always have it, and don't have to worry about writing it down, where did I put it, OMG someone stole it, etc. :)

I officially hate the Honda Owner Link. All of my information is correct, but when I filled out the form for getting the radio code, I keep getting the error message "email and phone or email and zip do not match our records. You can try 2 more times to enter this information correctly."

the original code should be listed on the backside of your ashtray.

Kind of an odd place to put it. But next time I'm in my favourite car, I'll look. Thanks.
