plan on getting a new engine...

i have a 2000 sh. i need a new engine for it so i have a few questions before i go searching on ebay for one. the sh comes with atts so if i decide to keep my tranny and just get a new h22 will my old tranny be able to work with one that came out of a base model or does the engine specifically have to be out of another sh? also if i decide to just get a new tranny along with the engine but one without atts just a base model engine and tranny will i run into any problems putting it in since my prelude shell and cluster is a type sh but the new engine and tranny isnt?

Specializing in JDM-USDM Engines & Parts...hmotorsonline.com
JDM Engine Depot

those are the two sites that come up on here all the time, low mileage, come with everything you need, including 5 spd tranny, LSD costs a little extra, and start up warranty.

i am personally gonna be going with one of them when i have the money to do a Euro R swap

SH block and transmission go together since they bolt up. the only way to keep your current transmission is to get an SH block but you can use your motor and get an ATTS block off plate (will need to be custom made) so you can attach the halfshaft so you can use a basemodel transmission or LSD trans. if you get a new engine and transmission the only thing you might need to change is the axles since SH axles are different from base model ludes. ( im almost 100% sure you just need a new driver side axle only) otherwise its pretty much a straight up swap since

Re: plan on getting a new engine...

remember that its wise to rebuild that "new" engine also!
replace all seals/gaskets what there is, bearings, piston rings, clutch and so on while the engine is out

it takes some money

How much money are you willing to spend and are you planning to mod the engine?

Re: plan on getting a new engine...

well right now my car isnt driveable so i definitely need a new engine. i dont want to buy a used one on craigslist it will most likely have almost as much miles as my old engine does. i would spend up to 2500 on another h22 and matching transmission. does anyone else know of any good websites that sell engines?

Re: plan on getting a new engine...

I had a question and it kind of relates to the thread. Does it HAVE to be an SH engine with atts? Some of the motors i saw on JDM engine depot said they came with a 5 speed lsd tranny, so would a base motor fit into an SH or do you have to strictly buy an SH engine?

ATTS will not bolt up to a base H22 but if you do get an engine from one of the sites then just swap out everything and install the new stuff

Re: plan on getting a new engine...

I was in the same situation. I could not find an SH block for my life(my SH block was useless). So i sucked it up and bought a JDM type S w/atts motor from hmotors. it Comes complete with a longblock and trans. only thing is that, theres a few parts you have to replace from your old motor to the jdm depending if you have emissions or not. Simple stuff if your mechanically inclined. Where i live, we don't have emissions check so I have to wire some electricals from the jdm distributor to the usdm harness(how im wiring it, theres more to it, so research or shoot me a pm). Otherwise, Ive researched for almost 3+ weeks now and figured that this route would be best for me. Spent more than I budgeted(plan on doing this right and only once) and its my only car so i have to get it running soon. I also dont plan to mod it other than the basic bolt ons so thats also one more reason why i didnt go with anything else. goodluck!
