Belt size?

SO after looking for a thread in regards to A/C removal...
I have one question....what size belt
fits from the crankshaft straight to the Alt?

Need to pick one up asap because the bearings in my
compressor are shot and smoking.

Re: Belt size?

That is all you'll need.

That belt will go around the crank and alternator only. You can still have the a/c compressor installed and this belt will not interfere with the compressor pulley. I'm running one right now, bypassing the compressor since it's not charged.

Re: Belt size?

hey wing i appreciate the help and wanted to know if you could point
me in the direction of a DIY ac/PS belt removal and install.
I am just really concerned about having the crank at TDC
if i take both belts off. Or if i should just buy a new AC compressor and
slide it in with out taking the old belt off? Anything would be a huge help
over this mechanics manual that doesn't tell me shiz!

Re: Belt size?

TDC only matters for the timing belt not the Alt and PS. The belt don't matter. just pull the PS one off and put the new Alt one on and put the PS one back on. put it on in the same direction though. you might have to loosen the tension to get it off......wait. you should have to to get it off. haha

Re: Belt size?

Hunter is right about the TDC, nothing to worry about since you're not messing with the timing belt.

Loosen the power steering pump, loosen the tensioner on the top- and remove that belt.

Proceed to loosen the top and bottom bolts on the alternator - then loosen the tensioner on the front of the alternator and remove the belt.

Install new alternator/crank belt - tighten tensioner, tighten alternator, install ps belt, tighten tensioner tighten ps pump. Just don't make the belts too tight, you should be able to push them and have a very very little bit of play - so not super tight but just enough that you can push the belt in maybe 1/4" or less

Re: Belt size?

Fits like a glove!
Tip for anyone else reading this
needing to change belts, take your
driverside wheel off and remove the
three bolts holding the plastic shield
to gain access to the crankshaft pulley.

Again Thanks Wing for the help!

Re: Belt size?

Why did you need access to the crank pulley????

Re: Belt size?

Probably to slip the belt on over it.

Re: Belt size?

Yes had to remove the PS belt in order to remove the Alt belt
easiest way to get the belts off of the crank pulley was
the access area behind the wheel
