Well if you have an aftermarket exhaust it will build up on the bumper. happened when i put mine on. also bad piston rings or valve seals will cause you to burn oil.....or being in vtec all the time like i do.

Welcome to owning a honda! Like hunter said, it's either worn piston rings or hondas crappy valve seals.

^^^these^^^

at least you don't have oil passage blocking/starvation(saturn) disintergrating rings(ford) valve tap(gen3vortec), complete apex seal failure(mazda), throttle body parts getting sucked into motor(nissan 2.5qr) the list truly goes on. Changing rings or taking it easy on the rpms will solve these problems.

Replacing the valve seals is easy, and cheap. But oh yea... You have to take the head off. If you're not comfortable doing that, then I would recommend taking it somewhere.

Re: help! Blowing blue smoke out of tailpipe

Before throwing cubic dollars at things, how severe is the problem? Are you just seeing some soot on the bumper, or do you actually see a smoke plume out the back? How much oil are you using between changes? Have you checked your compression? 5th gens seen to be a bit infamous for soot on the bumper, and while investing in the engine work is all good, you'll kick yourself if nothing changes.

Re: help! Blowing blue smoke out of tailpipe

the first thing im going to do is get a compression test done. i have the distinct scent of oil burning in the cabin. also i saw some blue smoke coming out of the tail pipe while accelerating the other day. fml it's always something with the lude, i fix one thing them something else goes wrong. i'll post the result of the compression test and we'll go from there. thanks for all the input guys it's much appreciated.
