Icon8 Remote Start / Trunk Unlock?!

I've done my research.. Can't really find helps so hopefully someone here can help.

My remote to unlock the car has a remote start button, open trunk, and lock / unlock. Unlock and lock work fine, but remote start and open trunk do NOT. When I press it, the lights flash and thats about it. Inside makes a slight *beep* noise.. No idea why this is happening!

Winter is coming up quick so I'd love to get the remote start working..

Any help? Thanks guys!

Re: Remote Start / Trunk Unlock?!

those are options that the remote can control, doesn't mean they are installed on your car.

I know there's a DIY Accord trunk popper mod you can do.

Re: Remote Start / Trunk Unlock?!

sounds like the lights flashing and beep is engaging your alarm maybe? or just locking your car... i have a keypad that only the unlock and lock button work. the other 2 are useless.

Re: Remote Start / Trunk Unlock?!

You need to post more info:

1- Is the remote start capability installed in the car?

2- Has it ever worked if it is in fact installed?

3- I don't believe remote starters were standard equipment, so this must be an "aftermarket" item. Do you have any documentation, ie: brand name, model number, schematics etc. ?

Care must be taken when these items are installed. IMHO there are more installers out there with better qualifications to cut meat, than install moderately sophisticated electronic installations.

Re: Remote Start / Trunk Unlock?!

Which alarm system do you have? Im a autotech installer, was it done properly? did they use a immobilizer? If they hooked everything up without an immobilizer when you hit the remote start button, the lights would just come on and the vehicle will not start.

Re: Remote Start / Trunk Unlock?!

Yeah you might need a chip taped up by the steering column to start it but i think that is what the immobilizer does. is your car a stick? in neutral? hooked up right?

Re: Remote Start / Trunk Unlock?!

For alarm systems such as compustar - there is a bypass that is installed with the alarm that allows you to start the car via a remote. I have one installed on a 5spd.... I don't recommend it.

Removed part of the alarm because my car kept starting on me time to time, and others it would stay running like a turbo timer.
