noob question (suspension)

Hi all.
I have a question about my cars suspension.

I guess a quick background story would help-
I'm 16 y/o and I get my license in a couple months so I figured I'd buy myself a car (99 Prelude). The car is awesome, I love everything about it, except 1 thing.... its TOO LOW. It's lowered 2.5 inches + I have a lip kit which makes it a bit lower I guess. I really want to raise it up so it's only lowered about an inch.

I guess my question is should I use springs or coilovers?
The car is just too low for my liking and I really want something that is comfortable to ride in and doesnt feel like a bomb going off under my car after I drive over a tiny hole or scrape the bottom of my car when I go up the smallest incline. I want something that isnt so harsh and is nice and "soft" when going over holes/bumps. I see a lot about being able to change damper setting on coilovers which is nice but most are too expensive for me.

Im not really looking for anything to improve performance because like I said, I'm only 16 and dont plan on racing or whatever, just using it to get to school for now

Heres what the car looks like if anyone was wondering.

Re: noob question (suspension)

Get yourself a stock suspension. easy to come by with all the people that swap them out...okay ride and less scrapping.

Re: noob question (suspension)

With springs your one and done. Set at one ride height and no worries. Coilovers you can raise or lower, but there slightly more. Which ever you choose DO NOT CHEAP OUT ON. It will cost you more in the long run. I have Megan EZ coilovers and I love them, you can check my build in my sig

Re: noob question (suspension)

you could also check to see what coilovers you have on there now.. if they are adjustable, adjust them to the height you want and see if its comfortable for you, then if its still not, swap them out

and welcome to PZ

Re: noob question (suspension)

yeah go with stock.

Nice lude you have! only thing i dont like on her are the fenders (i doubt they actually do anything anyway) and those wheels. the spoiler looks ok i guess... but other than those three things the car looks sexy!!

could there be a more in depth tour of this beast?

coilovers are shocks and springs already matched together though, so wouldnt it be shocks and springs hes talking about? not shocks and coilovers?? it just doesnt make sense to me because the coilovers have both matched together already, and then the shocks are matched with springs of your choice.

thats what i understand about them. thats not true then?

Look up what skunk2 coilovers are.
They're only a threaded SLEEVE that goes over any shock you want, and you twist the spring perches up or down the sleeve to raise/lower the car to your liking

Don't want the LOW but want something to give you good handling without a drop then I say you get Ground Control with Koni yellows.

Re: noob question (suspension)

How do you guys feel about using springs from a junkyard, or "parts garden"?

I figured I could find some stock springs there if I'm lucky- but Preludes arent very common around here and I dont feel like wasting my time.

What are you trying to say? I'm a kid yes, but not an idiot. Just because you're older doesn't mean you drive better.
