Touch up paint.

What's up guys, my prelude is loaded with annoying nicks and scratches from the previous owner. One of which is located on the bottom left front of the hood and it bothers me to no end.

I'd like to touch up some of these spots does anyone know of a good quality black paint for my prelude?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Touch up paint.

If it's the original paint job, go OEM. It will come out the best at the end.

Re: Touch up paint.

I would try the Duplicolor touch up paint first then move to the spray. Spray looks nice on the can but it looks really flat once on the body. even with the clear coat it still looks like sh*t from up close but from a far it looks almost like nothing ever happened.

Spray can or don't bother for anything bigger than a nickel.

Gotta properly prep surface (feather edge paint) wetsand between coats and after clearcoat, and then buff. I painted my front bumper with a spraycan.

Re: Touch up paint.

I bought that fix a scratch 2 n 1 touch up paint to fix some small chips on my bumper. I used the pen part and it worked amazing went on smooth and matched perfect and since the chips were so small it's not noticble unless you actually trying to find them. But like previously stated if it's bigger then a small chip it will look bad.

Re: Touch up paint.

Got bored one day and color matched my old emblem. Just a example on how perfect the match is. Your color may be different though.

Re: Touch up paint.

Definately look for your OEM color at autozone or oreilly. I had to paint a replacement door handle and you cant even tell the difference!!

Re: Touch up paint.

Alright so I color matched the OEM paint at pepboys, I got the acrylic spray.

I taped it off and tried spraying it, I did 5-6 coats and it the gash is still pretty noticeable. Not as bad as before though, I'll do a couple more coats later this week.

Re: Touch up paint.

I have a lot of stuff that needs touch-up paint and I went to my local autoparts shop to try and get the paint. Turns out that the Pearl White colour is actually like a silver Chromabase and it's expensive as hell.

I'm not sure where to get OEM painted parts unless I find the same white lude at a wrecker.
