Appointment set for cancer removal.

3 weeks from today, gonna have the driver side repaired. The rust will be cut out, new metal welded in. So far the price looks good enough, I'm gonna have my rear bumper done at the same time.

I'll post some before pics in a few days, and I'll follow it up after I get it back from the shop

Re: Appointment set for cancer removal.

$250-300, I was assuming more so I'm having him do the rear bumper as well. All together its gonna cost me $500-$600, that doesn't come with him replacing the prelude letters on the bumper. I'm gonna hold on putting them back on, see what I think about it without them.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I didn't mean any disrespect for you or any one that has or went through having cancer.

It was minor when I got the car 6 months ago. In the past month or so its blown out. From what the guy at the shop said and showed me, the rear quarter has been repainted (although it must have been something small cause there was never a claim through insurance or by the police). He popped off a half dollar size chunk of paint and I could see a think layer of bondo on it.

I'll take some picture of a before in a few days, and some after pics so we can see how it looks when hes done.

Re: Appointment set for cancer removal.

well you could go with the new metal route, its going to be new, but the more expensive. if your ok with that then do it, but if you want a cheaper fix that will last, remove the old bondo, if the metal did not rust compelely through. then sand it down to bare metal, rust reform it, spray can at any place like $5 then clean the surface the next day, let dry, and correctly bondo it. sand down to the shape you need it to be, and smooth with the panel. and then prime, touch up paint, clear coat all together you could fix every spot on your lude with some time, elbow grease, and about $50-$60 instead of $500-$600. and if you take your time, and do it right, it will come out looking good as new, and will last a very long time, if not forever. but thats your choice to make. if its completely rusted through the panel though, then you need new metal welded to it.

Body work and paint is something I would rather leave to a professional. I have the money for him to do it right, time on the other hand I don't have much of, or the talent required to do it the way I want.

@pp95. smoke less newports..
quit if you can. cut back at least. try lighter smokes.
i carry 10 ultra lights and 2 regulars to work each day. when i'm out i'm out. used to smoke 40-50 a day. did that electric smoke deal for a while and carried what i said before.
no more electric thing. usually have a smoke left for the ride home and tic tacs for when i'm out.
i feel waaaaaaay better.. 2013 i'm gonna do the electric smoke again and carry 5....i always thought 3-5 a day won't hurt me a bit.
hope you feel better and it aint serious.

Wow this thread has gone off topic. May as well jump in headfirst.

E-cigs have helped me quite a bit in the last year as well. Gone from 1-1.5 packs a day, to 2-3 packs a week tops. I feel better and so does my wallet.
So for all you nicotine fiends, don't knock the e-cig until you try it. recommend the Joyetech Ego-T from cignot.com. Good luck with being healthier, everyone!

Re: Appointment set for cancer removal.

Wow not bad at all for pricing. 2 winters ago I had my Prelude in for rust repairs on both rear quarter panels. It ended up being $1500... but that also included a new front bumper repainted and my support bar pulled a bit along with my new retrofitted headlights installed... ahahaha.

Re: Appointment set for cancer removal.

Also looking at your pics, If you remove those black strips along the rear wheel wells you can prevent further rust. Those things trap dirt and water like crazy. I started to get a small surface rust under them when I took them off.

Yeah, hes taking that strip off on the repaired side. Next summer I'll have him re-do the passenger side, for right now you can only see 2-3 small rust spots smaller then the size of a head of a pin.

I'm picking the car up tomorrow, its done. Hopefully it came out good.

Re: Appointment set for cancer removal.

Is it just surface rust? Mine was pretty small and I just put some wd-40 and sanded it lightly to bare metal and used some touch up paint and it looks real good.

Body work is all done. Here are some after pics, the clear coat is a little rough to the touch, I'll have to compound, just not sure how long after its been painted I should wait. Also had the rear bumper stripped down and redone. Had him leave the letters off.
