MISHIMOTO MYTH EXPOSED!!

Hey everyone! This is just a post to finally shine some light on the 5TH GEN PRELUDE Mishimoto Radiator Fitment. In this thread, is evidence that the stock fans WILL fit in the engine bay. There is about 1/3 of an inch clearance between mount and fans, which is just enough, if you have a solid good steady mount. You WILL need to modify the top radiator mounts to fit properly, and the metal clip that the battery terminal cable hooks up to the right side of the battery mount. The shroud pushes into it. Other than that, all fitment, if installed properly is spot on. Slim fan kit w/shroud IS NOT required. :) Hopes this helps those who are searching.

Re: MISHIMOTO MYTH EXPOSED!!

what was wrong with the old radiator? Just a bad cap or actually leaking? Reason for asking is cause I just had someone email me looking for a radiator and can send them your way

BUT

1. slim fans are more effective than oem
2. with PROPER aftermarket header (no dc/ebay crap) there MIGHT be fitment issues
when using bigger aluminium radiator with big stock fans

Re: MISHIMOTO MYTH EXPOSED!!

While that might be true, I'm sure most people getting a aftermarket rad or atleast myself I would be putting Slim fans on for the sake of some extra $$ for an extra clean look and because there better then oem.

Re: MISHIMOTO MYTH EXPOSED!!

true true everyone. most people will just get the fans, and with a bigger header there may be issues, but i was in the situation where i needed a new radiator, but didnt have money at the moment for the fans shroud and hoses. will i buy them later? of course. but i wanted to get this cuz of lifetime warranty. so thats why i made this thread. just in case anyone else is in my situation. :)

Since when was this a myth?

it's an aftermarket replacement - plenty of people have used their stock fans before

not everybody can read:

"Every Mishimoto aluminum radiator is a direct OEM fit, making installation effortless with no cutting or modification required."

Re: MISHIMOTO MYTH EXPOSED!!

That's a lie.... Top mounts will need some sort of modification. They either need to be cut or add a few washers and use a bigger bolt. Other wise it will not be flush and will rub hard. And when I was searching, I never found a concreat answer. 50% where saying I will need slim fans, 50% said i won't. So I just wanted to settle the arguments once and for all for those who were lost like me in the search section lol

Re: MISHIMOTO MYTH EXPOSED!!

I install my mishimoto radiator in my 97 lude manual trans iy bolted on fine
No modification done to radiator support mounts had to change my driver side fan
It was touching the alternator power wire sparking. Lucky it didn't mess up my
Wiring system or my fuse box. Got the slim fan ,well I bought 2 and made it look clean.
