type S swap help

Recently snapped a rod and chipped a part of my SH block. so to say, my block is done for.
I will be ordering a JDM type S w/atts from Hmotors tomorrow, but i need some clarification. I've been researching this about 2 weeks now so bare with me. I need to get my car running ASAP.

This is the route i plan to choose.
Dropping the Type S in, Keeping USDM harness, using JDM ECU(will my key still be able to start my car with the JDM immobilizer? Haven't seen anything specific about it. I also know that Computers in the US can't read JDM ecu's, correct... if thats the case, i can't reprogram my key, Have mechanic friends who works at a honda dealer, so i can get it done for free but i just need to know if i can still program the key.), h22usdm to jdm distributor wiring using this website as a source " Honda Prelude H22 USDM to JDM Distributor wiring. " .

If i chose this option, would the distributor wiring be the only thing i have to modify for the USDM harness (Im also getting mixed info about swapping the USDM distributor over to the JDM along with the oil pump)? Someone with experience please help! I just want the most reliable route to take. The car will remain stock like this until i decide to sell it.

Ive heard of the other route where you have to change the intake manifold, and such... but thats if i keep the USDM ECU, correct?

Re: type S swap help

Anyone who's done this swap can chime in?
give me an idea or how they did their swap. Too much information and all the info i've looked is always missing bits and pieces such as: usdm to jdm Distributor wiring on what ecu? JDM ecu or usdm ecu... im so stomped. My mechanic will be putting everything together and he's only charging me 500 bucks to remove my old motor and putting the new one in. So i want to gather as much info as i can so i dont cause a hassle. Trying to get this swap done with no CEL's.

Re: type S swap help

You may be better off just running it off the factory USDM computer. It will all plug in, I'm not sure what the factory ECU will be able to adjust when it comes to cam profiles and air/fuel ratios, so I honestly don't know. I would think it could work but I'm not sure enough.

Re: type S swap help

of course you have to use JDM type s ecu, since there is no usdm type s

with just usdm sh ecu the car runs like crap and you cannot get full of its potential out

Re: type S swap help

Ive been reading about people using SH ecu, People don't have problems. But i too would rather use the JDM ECU that comes with the motor. I feel more at ease this way.

Any of you know if i have to swap manifolds and if the stock USDM harness will hook up to the TYPE S intake manifold okay? I know the Type S manifold is a bit bigger. I also want to take the fewest amount of parts off the Type S motor as i can. Any other Info/tips you guys can help out with?

Goodluck to me! Just ordered my h22a type S engine today. Should be here in less than a couple weeks. Excited, but scared.

If you dont have to swap those manifolds, dont do it... type s manifold is better
or then get that usdm manifold ported

Re: type S swap help

Thanks TypeT, I won't be switching manifolds, im just going to rewire the jdm distributor to fit my usdm harness. People are switching too many usdm parts to the jdm motor(understandable because of emissions) and thats what confused me, but Where i live, we dont have emissions, so i'll be sticking with all the Original type S parts and ecu. I'll definitely get a review on this swap for anyone who decides to go my route.
