Tire spindles?

When I bought my new lude, the passenger side rear tire only had 4 lugs because one of the spindles snapped in half I guess. Well today, after tightening my tires, I broke another one. Right next to it. I have my spare 98 that Im parting out, can I just swap the whole assembly that the rim goes on to instead of replacing the spindles? How do I go about that?

Thanks in advance...I dont need my tire falling off :P

Re: Tire spindles?

Take it apart and swap over the parts....what looks like it needs to swap needs to swap. then get a 4 wheel alignment

Re: Tire spindles?

Is it the front or rear?

The rear hub assembly is pretty easy to swap;

Remove the wheel
Remove the rotor/caliper
Remove the spindle nut (bend out the notch so it loosens)
Spray down the hub assembly with some PB blaster and let soak for a few minutes
Slide hub assembly off and install onto other car
Be sure to notch your spindle nut once the assembly is installed onto the other car - otherwise you risk it coming loose.

^^ thats only for the rear hub assembly, i've never done the front so i'm not sure about that

There might be a writeup on here or PP for both

You can also replace wheel studs. A bit of a pain in the ass, but doable nonetheless

Re: Tire spindles?

Nice, I looked for a write up here but I didnt see one. I think the swap would be easier just because both cars are right next to each other and it wont cost anything. It is the rear so thats good news then. Ill have to do that very very soon. Thanks

Re: Tire spindles?

Or you could just swap the wheel studs.
