F20b prelude

Hi guys, I recently purchased a 1998 Prelude from Ontario with an f20b motor and tranny swap. Car originally had a garbage rubber SRI with a dirty filter, which i replaced with an ebay SRI and stainless filter. Had a plug problem which i fixed, and my MAP sensor is gone causing her to surge in idle, worse on startup. Sensor should be in monday and then i am expecting her to work better than ever. The body of the car has 28xxxx kms, and seller claims motor to have 70-85k.

I was wondering if anyone had any experience or info with the f20b, which is the Japanese version as im sure you all know. PS: i love the car

Re: F20b prelude

Welcome to the site. Why a f20b swap? Isn't that more of a downgrade from our H22?

Re: F20b prelude

Well the body is showing 280k so my guess would be he popped the h22, and for some reason got an f20b instead or fixing it :s im hoping when i install the new map sensor it runs a little better, may go for an exhaust as well.

Re: F20b prelude

Nice pick up man.

As far as the sensors go, that might fix it. BUt then again, I don't know too much about that stuff lol. I think there's an idle problem sticky somewhere, I can't remember if its on this site or another, you should check it out

Re: F20b prelude

A mechanic diagnosed the problem, and then i googled it for my own curiousity, and it seems like a likely source for that problem, i just hope its that easy. I found that idle sticky from google, and thats how i found the forums!
