Short ram intake

Hey, i was looking around for a intake for my base prelude. I saw that they made kevlar intakes for other cars, but i could not find one for a prelude. I was wondering is anyone knows where you can buy one, or what would be another short ram to get.

short rams are only downgrade since they suck warm air from the engine bay

That is so false. An SRI is definitely an upgrade from a stock airbox, the increase in horsepower is very minimal (5-7, if that) but SRIs are more common and recommended over CAIs due to hydrolock in areas with harsh weather conditions. In no way is an SRI a "downgrade" of any sort.

As far as a kevlar/CF intake, I don't know of any. PasswordJDM has a CF air filter/velocity stack, though. Password:JDM Dry Carbon Fiber Velocity Stack 3 Inch (Universal Fitment) | Password JDM

If when i bought my lude it didnt already have a cai on it i would have just bought an ebay intake for way cheaper and then just put a nicer filter on it like k&n of AEM

Joeriley, please don't come here spewing incorrect information all over the forums. It is a well known fact that our stock air boxes with a k&n drop in filter are the best option for our motors (unless you've got a seriously built motor that needs itbs or something custom). This has been dyno proven on many occasions.

I read that a k&n drop in filter with the intake resonator removed yields the best results

It does. If you buy a CAI or an SRI for our cars, you're wasting money.

Re: Short ram intake

Only reason I have a SRI is cause I already had it from my dad's accord and it fit perfectly and my stock intake was torn in two pieces when bought. I'd go with k&n drop in filter and resonator delete for growl or a ebay CAI/SRI with a better filter.

Re: Short ram intake

I wanted the look, aggressive sound and flexibility that future major upgrades to the engine will bring. I had a k&n drop in filter but the stock intake housing had seperated at the bends in two places. Do what u want but the benefits are so slight to a stock set up that there is little reason to bother. Good luck.

Re: Short ram intake

The best intake over a stock airbox with a K&N filter and resonator delete is the AEM V2 or the JDM chambered Type S intake (both cost over $200 though).

Re: Short ram intake

There's really no difference between the V2 and any normal short ram if anything it's defiantly not worth 200 bucks imo. But the JDM intake is well worth the money and the best intake out there with a k&n drop in filter imo.

Exactly. This is a trick a lot of hyper-milers use to get better MPG's. Sometimes they'll even reroute the filter to sit over the header (the hottest part of the bay).

Yeah I see that a lot on other cars, but they wouldn't do much for our cars. Honda did a ridiculously good job when it comes to our intake systems.
